Ok, ok, I've read to contact the Senate and the Representatives (Fed) then Senate and the House of Rep (State), do this, don't do this. Sorry I'm confused and I hope I'm not the only one.
I do know who the Interim leader of Afghanistan is.... but lost on exactly who to contact w/ regards to the Chris Smith letter.... the Senators, Representatives, Senate or House of Representatives.
I do know who these polititians are in my GA state but which ones to contact?
And do I say "Did (insert polititians name here)sign on to Congressman Christopher Smith's Member List concerning Lyme Disease Guidelines?" I think I can ask for a written reply to my question or statement, at least in my state.
Please don't laugh too hard...just a little ok? I'm having a crapy time of it the past couple mos. If my socks match....it's a swell day.
Thanks Stella

Can't say I blame you for being confused, Stella. Not hard to confuse a lymebrain on a good day!!
This ALERT came from the LDA President, Pat Smith. I guess we were supposed to act immediately on this (like yesterday) because Congress ended session yesterday and are on recess until after the holidays.
I did not get it done yesterday, but sent my letters today anyway.
Here is what the Action Alert Says:
#1: NEW! URGENT ACTION NEEDED, TIME SENSITIVE
Update: An electronic Member Letter has been sent to all Members of the US House of Representatives by Congressman Christopher Smith.
The letter ultimately will be sent to Dr Julie Gerberding, CDC Director, on behalf of all of the Congressmen who have signed onto it.
It addresses the IDSA guidelines, their impact, their development process, and concerns about why the CDC has these guidelines on its website, and why other guidelines are not recognized. We need high numbers of congressmen signed on─not a bill, so easy to sign on.
Action: All need to contact your own (1) US House Rep, DC office only (if you already called, call again). * Tell him/her to sign NOW onto the Member Letter on the Lyme disease guidelines circulated by Congressman Christopher Smith (NJ).
Tell them the guidelines hurt you, their constituents. * Your Rep can contact Tim Lynagh, Legislative Director for Representative Chris Smith (NJ), at (202) 225-3765 with questions or for a copy of the Member Letter on Lyme disease if they cannot find theirs.
* Lyme Groups should contact all congressmen within their range (area they cover).
* Find your Congressman on __http://www.visi.http://wwhttp://wwh_ (http://www.visi.com/juan/congress/_) (_http://www.visi.http://wwhttp://ww_ (http://www.visi.com/juan/congress/) ) ***********************************************
That means you contact your 2 Senators from the US Senate, and the representative from your district in the state where you live.
If you are really amitious, contact all the representatives from your state. In my state, they only want to hear from their own constituents...those from the district thet represent in the US House of Representatives.
I read that it was important to make your contacts even though they set Wed. as a deadline...so I took a chance that I was not too late.
You will note that the Alert says to contact your US House Representative. I couldn't see why the Senators were not asked to sign this Member Letter (strange name for it) as well....so completely confused there. I sent it to my two senators as well...
Does this help? Or confuse you even more?!

And I posted this yesterday which may help too. I think we are all on the same page.
Ann - OH "To clear the air. There is NO competition between the two petitions here on Lymenet. YOU SHOULD SIGN THEM BOTH.
You should CALL your congress person TODAY and ask them to sign on to the MEMBER LETTER that was sent to them by Congressman Christopher Smith (who submitted the Lyme Bill to Congress!). It is very important! See the message from PAT SMITH, head of LDA at
You should E-MAIL your congress people to ask them to pass the two bills now before them. These bills provide for Lyme disease education and research and have been before Congress since June, 2005. The bills will die if they are not passed this year.
Go to http://tinyurl.com/y8wu3u to see a cover letter and a copy of Lynne's petition (which was started in August) you can send easily by following the instructions there.
BTW - if you go to this site and put your zip code in the Search box, you will get your congress people and their phone #'s AND their e-mail addresses very quickly.

I checked and the Senate and House are both still in session at least today and tomorrow. They are not on recess yet.

Well...I'm ahead of you! I've been cognitively tanked for the last 12 years!
I Was Wrong! Ann, you were right! No Senators, just US Representatives.
(i was wrong once before, too)
Tincup straightened us out, too. Can't imagine that twerp telling Tincup that NOW that he was so important, he couldn't be bothered with all these things.(like calls from her!)
BTW, the Senate passed the autism bill today. I pray we get our bills passed. I have given up on Kennedy and Kerry...they must be WAY too important to bother with lyme!!!
