``Lyme Disease and the Problems Associated with its Diagnosis and Treatment'' is the topic of a Wednesday, April 25 seminar co-sponsored by five area Rotary Clubs and the Ridgefield and Newtown Lyme Disease Task forces.
This free Lyme awareness event will be at the Westside Campus Student Center at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury from 7 to 9 p.m.
Featured speakers include Dr. Joseph J. Burrascano Jr. and Dr. Richard I. Horowitz, vice president and president elect of the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society.
Dr. Burrascano is a leading authority in treating tick-borne diseases. His diagnostic skills were recently featured on the Discovery Channel Series Medical Mysteries in ``The Laura Zeller Story.''
Dr. Horowitz is a diplomat of American Board of Internal Medicine, with a practice in Hyde Park, N.Y. He lectures frequently on late-stage illness and the co-infections such as babesiosis and ehrlichiosis that often complicate the diagnosis and treatment of Lyme disease.
Doors open at 6. The Westside Campus Student Center may be reached from Route I-84 east or west by taking exit 4 (Lake Avenue). Turn right and follow Lake, which becomes Mill Plain Road to University Boulevard, directly across from Super Stop & Shop. The Student Center is at the top of the hill on the right.
