Well, something like this doesn't happen every day! On Friday, November 14th at 7:30, the Channel 5 news show Chronicle will air an entire 30 minute show on Lyme disease. I believe its primary focus is on Pam Weintraub's book, Cure Unknown: Inside the Lyme Epidemic
I am very happy to finally see the media give some attention to this critical issue. After reading Pam's book, I am not surprised to see the channel 5 folks give it some worthy attention - it's a cogent, comprehensive and easy-to-read review of a nasty epidemic indeed.

Sorry! I didn't see your post here as I just posted similar info over in General Discussion.
If someone can record the program for potential uploading to the public on YouTube etc that would be great! I don't have that ability.....Thanks.

Word from someone who was interviewed says that it promises to be a comprehensive program about the chronic Lyme disease controversy, inspired by Pam Weintraub's book "Cure Unknown," among other things.
The reporter, Clint Conley, interviewed Pam for the show when she was in Cambridge for a book signing.
They also went to CT and interviewed Dr. Jones and Atty. General Blumenthal.
(she doesn't know what made it through the editing process)
At one point, Chronicle was having a hard time finding a "mainstream" doc who would agree to be interviewed but that may have changed.
Clint, with the Chronicle team, had done a story on Lyme in the early '80s. She asked him if he was seeing differences in the current story, and he responded with an emphatic yes. He was interested in "Under Our Skin," but hadn't yet seen it, so she gave him a copy of the DVD.

I watched part of Chronicle last night (Wednesday). Don't ask me what it was about, coz I don't remember....
But 10 minutes before the end of the show, they showed a sort of "coming attractions" exerpt from the show to air on Friday.
It caught my attention because all of a sudden I heard Peter Mahegan's voice saying "(Susan Mercurio)she was diagnosed with MS, and treatment (for MS) began. But it turned out she actually had something far more common....Lyme Disease".
They showed Susan Mercurio saying how she had lost her eyesight. Then showed her opening a brochure for whatever Hospital it was that had proudly opened a new MS program. and she wound up in the brochure's photograph. Ironically. and I think that was the point of showing that exerpt. To point out just how misdiagnosed it is.
I 1/2-suspect they are showing other clips during the show (before they go to commercial) every evening all this week.
Anyhow, the tone of that clip was completely positive. The words they chose to use and info they chose to reveal. Very promising.
My sister really gets a strong feeling that someone on their staff or a family member must be really suffering with it.
Can't wait to see it! I hope someone records it and posts it online!

I'm not sure how folks in different time zones will get to see this presentation. However, I live in Florida and I'll mark it on my calendar for tonight!
I clicked on the "sneak peak" and immediately saw Dr J......treating, as he would, a child.
Hopefully the media can drum up some financial support for the guy....
I met him at the January conference down here in St Pete....He's a nice guy....
He should'nt have to go thru this garbage!
I AM glad he has chosen to fight however!
He needs our support financially as an ongoing court battle still rages on.

For those that weren't able to view it, I did put a copy of it up on
It has options of either a Windows version which is streaming or Quicktime which I think needs to be downloaded.
Enjoy!

i got this email today .....
Thank you for your email and for sharing your story.....
There is a news service, TV News Clips...at 800-799-8881...where copies of our reports can be purchased.
Not all of our reports make it to our website.
I will continue to follow stories like Tammy's and Jill's and I have seen "Under Our Skin", which I talked about in part 2.
Best wishes to you and others who suffer from this too often misdiagnosed disease.
Kristi Krueger, Boston news reporter

i sent the below...
Betty G, IOWA LYME ACTIVIST
Kristi,
Outstanding news clip you did on Jill and Tammy's life with chronic lyme disease!
I've had chronic lyme 39 years this Christmas! The tick that got me was off my folk's LIVE CHRISTMAS tree!!
It was sub-zero Iowa weather, and my roommates and I didn't have pets nor could we garden in weather like that. Thru the use of my journal started at 13, I was able to track back when I got sick and eliminate other things!
I was misdiagnosed by 40-50 drs. for 34.5 YEARS! Each dr. I believed his diagnosis.
I've had to educate myself using reputable internet sites; such as:
Local lyme support groups have been sponsoring this and having it aired at their public library auditoriums, etc. nationwide!
I look forward to seeing part 2 as soon as I can find the link SOMEWHERE! I can't find it presently.
Again, thanks for the great coverage, and continue bringing this out in the open vs. shoving it under the rug like congress has done in 10.5 years our lyme bill has been there STUCK and has NOT BEEN PLACED ON AGENDA TO DISCUSS!
************
i was pleasantly surprise to get a reply back to my post!! way to go kristi!
