There are instructions in that link which should walk you through it.

After you make an account -- go to www.tweetchat.com -- and then type in #UOS as the room name

I think people thought they could access the chat durectly from twitter.com but you have to go to tweetchat.com.

Mandy is doing pretty well - both working and going to school. Said the rest of the folks in the film are holding up pretty well too.
