FYI- Boston's WCVB-TV Channel 5 has a regular news magazine show every week called "Chronicle".

Tomorrow [Teusday] evening (@ 7:30PM EDT), they will be feturing an investigative piece on the Lyme controversy.

Chronicle's Website details the show here:

And for a video clip outake:

Ahhhh...here we are. The Three Musketeers.

I believe this show tonight was a repeat of the one they aired back in November. I had put out a link on Lymenet for those wanting to see it that weren't local to it.

http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi/topic/1/74367?

I believe it is still there for those that missed it the first time around.

I did go out and read the comments on the web site and saw your note Betty, but the one that fired me up was the most recent from a man saying he is a doctor, definitely on the other side.

Well, I read it to my husband and he said, "I'll reply to that one." So he just sent up a post to him and wasn't very nice. Guess the good ole doctor got under his skin.

cathy,

that was great what your husband wrote!

here's what i just took the time to write and i hope they will post it as it DISAPPEARED from there.

antihero,

"They showed 2 doctors who are treating the false-diagnosis of "chronic lyme" but non of the thousands of physicians who have looked at all the scientific data and concluded that there is no such thing.

What about the physicians who wrote the New England Journal of Medicine article?

I suggest reading the true medical literature on this subjective, supported by true scientific method including retrospective, placebo control double-blinded studies. Decide for yourself. I read it and I decided.

There is no such thing as chronic lyme and as a physician until someone does a legitimate scientific study to change my mind (which I am open to if the evidence is more than some mom telling me)

I will never treat chronic lyme.
***********************************

PS: They failed to tell the story of the individual who died for a PICC (IV used for long term antibiotic treatment) infection while being treated for chronic lyme. " ************************************************

antihero,

strange you should state by your own words above that there is NO chronic lyme, and then later in your post YOU have shown "chronic lyme" twice in your scenarios !!

Dr. Brian Fallon's long-term antibiotics study was PUBLISHED last year in MEDICAL JOURNAL that you all treat as your BIBLE!

I've got neuro, chronic lyme of 39 years, so I can't remember the entire name of this scientific journal but doing the best I can.

Unfortunately, I apparently went to a dr. like yourself who was closed minded and would NOT even think about CHRONIC LYME OR CO-INFECTIONS/other illnesses the ticks & other animals carry!

It's too bad as a dr. you are unable to show compassion for lyme/co-infection patients like myself.

Instead, you make our lyme journey so much harder by the rude, impertinent, crude remarks about our LLMDS, lyme literate mds, who treat us long-term antibiotics ... meaning longer than their IDSA/infectious drs. 3 wks. MAXIMUM of antibiotics.

What is even worse is the fact that the majority of IDSA/infectious drs. are lobbying congress NOT to take any action for the 10th year on HR 1179 Lyme and Tick-Borne Disease bill,

"To provide for the expansion of Federal efforts concerning the prevention, education, treatment, and research activities related to Lyme and other tick-borne diseases, including the establishment of a Tick-Borne Diseases Advisory Committee."

I can NOT figure out why you infectious drs. and our chronic lyme literate drs. can't work TOGETHER and help us sick patients get into REMISSION? TELL ME WHY PLEASE? thank you.

BettyG, Iowa lyme activist [Smile]
39 yrs. chronic lyme
34.5 yrs. MISDIAGNOSED by 40-50 drs!! why?

Betty,

Your note did go through out there, but their pages lump everything together so there are no spaces no matter how many you put in.

My husband did go back out there and post again after yours since it really is hard to tell what was a quote from you and what was your comment with the formating they do out there.

I see that this morning, they also have links to view the show for those that weren't local and may have missed it.
