Hi all - I'm not able to be online much due to my computer being fixed, but wanted to drop in for this little exciting item!

It happened after I forwarded them an email stating that the state legislature recently passed a resolution making the month of May a permanent May Lyme Disease Awareness month in California.

So if anyone is local here and wants to come, it's happening on Tuesday May 12 at City Hall, board of supes meeting room on the 2nd floor, during roll call, which is probably after 3:15pm - Item 31 on the agenda - call the clerk's office at (415)554-5184 to check on time.

Public comment occurs right afterwards. Anyone can speak for three minutes. If you come, it might be nice to wear a green looped ribbon in support of the cause!

Thx for your support, TC and Betty - I took it to City Hall today, along with...Melanie Reber! and two other Lyme patients who also testified.

It went well - the supervisor announced some good basic facts, then the four of us I think mostly focused on our experience of having Lyme/co's and expressed it very strongly and clearly.

Afterwards, when I was visiting in one of the supe offices (we have 11 here, each representing a different dictrict), I heard someone say he realized, upon watching the telly of us testifying, that his mysterious symptoms were probably Lyme!

Thx, TC and Betty! I think everyone did really well.

Betty, not a supervisor, but someone who was in one of the supe offices.

Bull's eye rash etc and didn't know what it meant until he watched us...

Hey Robin, is it possible to get a video or other format copy of the meeting at all?

Thanks for putting this together. I was very pleased with what the board member said and with the talks the three others gave.

It did me in, but was worth the effort.

This can be watched! Go to www.sfgov.org, click on Board of Supervisors, then Meeting Info, then Video Archives, then on 5/12/09. There's both video and captioning.

Click on Item 31, roll call; go to 1:52 (one hour 52 minutes). Then four of us testify during public comment, Item 32, 2:19-27.
