Hi Guys, I signed a link here a couple weeks ago and somehow this form letter (on bottom) got sent to my Wa state Senator on March 29. Below is her reply. Any great suggestions on how to reply back to her?

Dear Mrs. ****-

Thank you for your email concerning Lyme Disease. I have contacted the Department of Health to inquire about the severity of this problem in Washington State. Per the DOH, Washington averages anywhere from zero to three cases per year. Additionally, as Chair of the Senate Health and Long Term Care Committee, I am unaware of any correspondence or contact from the medical community citing a need for specific action to address this as a critical need.

If you have information indicating a severe underreporting of the problem, please send that information to me and I can have staff look into this issue further.

Always,

Sen. Karen Keiser

Dear Representative,,

Hello,

Lyme Disease and Coinfections need much better treatments, cures and understanding by the doctors and the entire medical community, with better testing, much more clinical studies and longer treatments as each patient requires.

Insurance companies which overcharge the individuals is a crime, and they must pay for the long term treatments while the patients with Lyme Disease greatly suffers.

Lyme leads to Many Cancers, Fibromayalgia, Parkinsons, ALS, MS, EBV, Herpes, Syphilis, Chronic Fatigue, Arthritis, Spinal and Herniated Disc Disorders, Brain Tumors, Depression, Rage, and many many more disabling medical conditions.

Lyme disease is being disputed by our elected officials and undertreated while people greatly suffer.

Poor testing, poor medical community understanding and undertreating it leads to further life long complications.

Millions are infected and millions are still undiagnosed with it.

We need special funding, Bills passed, cures found, proper testing, better understanding, proper education of the entire medical community, coinfections need better testings and treatments, longer treatments for the sick individuals, special care needs for the patients and Bills passed on this very urgent matter ASAP.

We need Lyme Litterate Specialist Doctors.

Lyme Disease and its Coinfections is a Major Epidemic like no other, it is currently spreading like nothing else, and is going to be bigger than any other Infectious Disease known to Mankind.

Lyme disease and its Coinfections are spread not just by Ticks alone, but also by dust mites, bed bugs, lice, spiders, mosquitoes, bees, birds, cats, dogs, just about any animal, and even human bodily fluids.

Please take this matter very seriously and take an immediate action.

Thank you,

Best Regards,

********

Thats a good idea, wish I could get a copy for less than 30 bucks. Just can't spare it with no insurance and too many meds. Was hoping someone had some eloquent words or some type of form letter to send back.

That form letter is an embarrassment. Some info in it is valid, but it is mixed up with misconceptions and out and out misinformation. In addition, it is poorly written with several misspellings. A friend of mine who is a legislator in the northwest wrote to me: he'd received several copies, and asked me to help him understand the issue and sort out fact from non-fact. While there is a real need to inform our legislators, this letter is a set-back in that regard. It makes the senders look like nutcases. The Washington State representative asked for something valid: specific information that would give her reason to question the standard line of the Washington DOH, which gets its info from CDC. We need to give it to her. LDA, the SW Penn LDA, and ILADS all have good materials, and I agree that Pam Weintraub's book is an excellent resource for them to read. I suggested it to my friend, myself.

I agree Dayle! Very embarrassing - combine it with the 'never sit on a toilet seat' and never drink cold water, else you might catch Lyme disease.

This whole thing has turned into one BIG joke. I can picture it now, people asking for face mask dispensers beside every roll of toilet paper and call it a conspiracy when no one listens.

It definitley isn't a letter I would've written myself. All I did was add my name to a petition here on this site, believing I was doing the right thing, and this letter was sent with my name attached. I've learned my lesson for sure.

Please don't think I was criticizing you, joahsark! I went to that site, and there is no indication that they are going to send that letter in your name to anyone. That is one reason I posted the warning above! I wanted people to be aware of what it really was, and the problems with the so-called "petition".

As I told my friend, people are responding to the "petition" out of a legitimate concern. I helped him sort out what was valid in the letter from the inaccuracies, gave him some background about Lyme, told him about what had been done in some other states, and gave him contact info for the Lyme group in his state. (Which used to be my state.)

And I should have written SE Penn Lyme LDA, not SW in my first post above!

Thanks Dayle Ann, just glad you knew who to contact and that it will lead to better information going to the right places.

I agree that that letter is terrible!

Whoever originally wrote it should be ashamed.

Lyme leads to syphilis? Wow! Just wow.

Personally, I think contacting senators in such a general way is not the most productive use of time. If there is a bill coming up, etc, then maybe it's a good idea.

Maybe the person who wrote the letter has lyme induced cognitive problems. Maybe he/she is a product of our stellar educational system, another issue in need of attention.

I went to that site and thought, "this could be a scam, someone trying to get info on individuals with lyme like an insurance company." Paranoid, maybe. Glad I didn't sign it.

Be careful on the ol' interweb.
