23 cases???
20 cases???
What a joke. Wonder what the real numbers are? Who is going to report lyme cases in Oregon and have the state medical board come after them?

- Thanks for posting this. It's important to see the itty bitty nod to this, even if sorely inadequate.
Local media in Oregon is so under the thumb of the IDSA.
Notice that article was posted from Washington state (but the numbers are such a joke as no where in the Pacific Northwest is lyme really taken seriously, doctors do not acknowledge it so it does not get reported, generally).
Local media TRUSTS the IDSA doctors here. OHSU is like God in this state (as are most medical colleges in other states). They are the top employers and the top advertisers, too.
And it's such a terrible article, not at all informing readers to the true dangers or what to do IF . . . .
All the state media gets funding from OHSU (the medical college) and other medical centers who advertise big time.
They will not speak truth about lyme in Oregon. A few tried in the past but were clobbered by the IDSA cohorts here. TV, Radio, newspaper. Even Oregon Public Broadcasting folded to local IDSA pressure and would not air the film "Under Our Skin" two years ago at a regular time.
The local IDSA doctors wanted OPB to not air it at all but OPB did, just at 3 a.m. One time only.
So, even the PBS media are under the rule of the IDSA here. But all the local TV stations and the newspaper have IDSA medical advisors on their staffs.
Truth about lyme in Oregon is not in the media.
Still, the area local lyme support groups dotted throughout the state work very hard at helping shine some light.
As some know, though, there is no LLMD in Oregon. Not allowed. Oregon is one of the most hostile states for anyone with lyme who needs any kind of MD for any reason.
Thankfully, though, there are a few ILADS-educated LL NDs (naturopathic doctors). -
