I have been told and my research has led me to believe that Lyme comes in cycles similar to Lupus. If Lyme comes in cycles how come I have had some same symptoms for many months?

You can have many generations with different cycles at this point if you have been infected for years....AND you could have more than 1 type!!! There are @ 200 varities of these spirochetes!!! Your tick buddy coulda had several different types!

If you stay with effective treatment long enough...you should see a clearing...for my, I started to see a clearly after a few years.

At this point, I have 2 pretty distinct cycles within a 30 day calender with about 5 days of no sypmtoms inbetween the symptomatic states.

Lyme doesnt "come" in cycles, it reproduces in cycles. That doesnt mean you will ONLY have symptoms every cycle. It means the infection GROWS every cycle, worsening your cycle.

The longer youre on abx, the longer you KILL the infection when it decides it wants to play sex games in your body. THus, you're not going to be completely symptom free between flares. Some people are though, with a long enough duration of treatment.

Hi!
I find that unless I am hitting it with stuff that is really doing a good job of killing the keets I do not show a cycle.

The orals have the same effect on me I just have a disorganised pattern of symptoms but they have just put me back on the rocephin and only 2 doses a week and whammy I didn't know what had hit me at the end of the third and right through the fourth week.

So I believe unless you are doing a good job of killing them you are not going to see the cycle appearing.

SO if you don't see the cycle then the abx aren't working too well. Because of this the same symptoms are constant?

I think there are several things at play here. There are many 'cycles' going on with lyme - the bacteria replicating and/or dying off/or both. The medications kicking lyme butt. Plus if you are a female, the hormone cycle can effect how you feel each month. I tend to feel my worst at 'that time of the month'. So is it that the ketes are in synch with my hormones or what? I think it's all of the above....

Oh boy,,,,that sure made a lot of sense! Good luck!!!!

Some of what I read on this post helped. But, then again...I am having one of those weeks where just making sure I eat 3 meals a day and drink water is about all I can handle.

I have been trying to figure this herx and cycle thing out.

Last week, I could count on about 3 hours of being able to sit upright. It was really nice.

This week..ouch...couch potatoe time, in and out of it time.

I think I started IV rocephin last week...or was it the week before?

Is this happening because the spirochetes are in their reproductive cycle? Or is it because I did too much last week? Or is it because the abx is killing off the critters?

Why did I have these up and down times the 18 months before I started treatment?

Why was I actually able to do more before I started on the abx.

Don't get me wrong. I do believe the abx is helping. I would hate to see what kind of shape I would be in without the abx the past year.
