Hello. Was wondering if anyone else has spells where they pass out. I haven't had one for a long time until today. A year ago I passed out was out for over 5 minuets I was at church and they called ambulance. I was taken tot he hospital and told i must ahve had an anxiety attack that cuased me to pass out cause my MRI was normal. But I wasn't worried or upset or anyhting when it happened. Now this morning I woke up feeling like dirt made it out of bed and hit the floor. My son said i was only out for about 3 minuets. I didn't bother to go back to Er cause I knoe they will be no help. Just wondering if anyone else ever experiances this.

How is your BP?
How are your electrolytes?
What is your blood sugar status (fasting blood sugar level)?
If you don't know...ask for these tests and monitor.

Sorry to hear this! It's crazy that the ER folks are relying only on an MRI to decide if you have a "problem" or not!
I would suspect NMH...neurally mediated hypotension......have you checked your BP during the day....and heart rate??
You may need to ask your dr if there are any indications you might need a "tilt table test"...this would diagnose the NMH.
keep us posted.....are you taking abx right now?? Could it be a herx response??

My sugar is 121 wich is deffinantly not low. I'm currently taking Augmentin for an ear infection but no meds for lyme. My Dr isnsits I am cured of lyme or as he puts it if I ever had lyme at all. So who knows? If it happens again my husband sais I have to go back to Er. I'm starting my hunt tomorow morning for a new Dr so hopefully I'll have some luck.

Hi,
My daughter had this same problem. When going from a sitting or lying position to standing her blood pressure would drop 20 points, lyme induced symptom. This drop would cause her to pass out.
Tilt table testing will uncover this problem, In the meantime. If you are sitting, prior to standing, wiggle your legs and press your feet hard agaist the floor for a few minutes to get the blood flowing prior to standing.
If you are lying down, first sit up with you feet over the side of the bed and do the same as above. This will help. There is a medication for this problem, and a name for this problem but I can't think of ot right now.
This is caused by LYME or co-infections so I suggest you find a more knowledgable doctor.

I haven't actually passed out but I get dizzy, lightheaded and can black out w/out actually passing out.
I never know when it's going to happen but it seems more common when I haven't eaten for awhile or when I'm out in the sun or was out in the sun.

i also get extremely lightheaded and causes me to get tunnel vision into blackness for a second or two then it slowly comes back.
i get this esspecially bad when i get my extreme headaches (all the time =( and i move from one position to the next.
i have low blood pressure - probably contributes to this i imagagine.
it is not fun. and trips to the er have been a waste of time for me as well. i feel your pain - literally.

I passed out several times on and off abx before I started treatment for Babs. I have never gotten a definitive answer as to why this happened from any of my MDs, other than episodal hypotension. Can tell you, it freaked me out, especially when driving a car. Be careful.

Hi, I am here in Ohio and will be glad to help if I can. Please e-mail me and I will be glad to be in touch.
Lyme disease can cause seizures, small and large. Could be a lot of other causes too, as others have pointed out.
