Go to www.canlyme.com and click on the CFCF news link for an interesting but sad story as to the state of things elsewhere.

They deny they have the ticks that carry lyme yet here is what the head of their Provincial microbiology lab says when reporting to their veterinarians: www.canlyme.com/quebecticks.html

This is criminal.

It never ceases to amaze me that doctors will not take a chance at treating what may be an infectious disease, because the tests are contradictory. How strange and heartless this is.

Good story. Thanks for posting it. The station did an excellent job of explaining the problem.

Keeping my fingers crossed for Francine, that she will get treated.

It's amazing how borderless stupidity is...what possible harm would the treatment do.

They say the treatment is $70,000.00 (probably a bit much) but how much does heart bypass surgery cost or hip transplantation or many of the major surgeries?

Could you imagine a doctor saying no to heart bypass surgery because of the cost? They certainly have no problem leaving lymies sick though.

There was a doctors report a while back on Lymenet where the doctor had treated over a hundred cases of ALS with antibiotics.

One case the doctor cited was a 71 year old man 100% paralized, with 24 hours to live. The patient completely recovered on antibiotics!

That was $70K Canadian, right? They must be assuming a lot of IV.

Do you know this woman? I am assuming she and her family know about the FDA advisories saying Lyme tests cannot be used as the sole determinant of having or not having the disease. If you think it would help, I can give the website where this advisory can be found. Although it is a U.S. agency, the testing situation in Canada isn't any different than the U.S. from what I have heard.
