I am taking 300 doxy 500 zithromax daily and it seems like my intestines are constantly vibrating. My LLMD said 30 billion of the acidophilous should be about right and to increase if still having stomach problems. Increasing the amount of acidophilous seemed to work for a month, but no longer. I am having yoghurt now too. Do you find a particular brand works best? How soon after you take antibiotics do you take the the acidophilous? Maybe I am waiting too long.

Hi,
I take my acidolphilus in the morning and before bedtime. I make sure I eat a full meal with my abx..especailly the Zithromax.

Are you taking anything to kill yeast also? Like nystatin.or caprylic acid...

I hope this helps and I hope your stomach feels better too.

We take acidophilus two hours after abx.
If you take garlic or anythign else to help kill bacteria, take it w/the abx so it doesn't affect the probiotics.

I have a question is probotics and acidophlus the same thing? I was taking acidophlus and my mom come over and gave me a bottle of probotic's can I take both of those pills together? Or would that be trying to put to much of the bood bacteria back in??

Stacie

acidophilus is just one of many healthful probiotics. Probiotics are bacteria that keep one's intestinal flora in balance, therfore, "good bacteria".

Antibiotics will kill any identifying bacteria it can find, good and bad alike. When probiotics are absent in the body, yeast, a normally occurring fungi is allowed to grow out of control, creating and uncomfortable "yeast infection".

The purpose of taking a good quality cold storage probiotic blend is to re-balance the intestinal flora, and keep the yeast in check, and allowing the benefitical bacteria to be present in the gut allowing for optimal nutrient absorption.
