(Message mourning the recently deceased OPMC bill was misunderstood as an insult to New Yorkers... Sorry!)

Hey James,
I lived in Mexico for 20 years so I'd be very cautious about recommending a Dr. I had some terrific doctors there but no one knew what this weird, round, red and itchy rash was. In fact, many even asked me what it was or gave it absolutely no importance.
Hang in there James- call Austin everyday, bug the nurses, leave messages, until you get an appointment.

OK James,
I'm sure you are attempting to be sarcastic or even humorous here, and I pride myself on having a pretty good, albeit sick, sense of humor. But you have crossed the line a bit here in describing the native New Yorkers as being 'carriers of multiple untreated diseases'. That is not funny and really bordering on gross.

The medical climate is definitely not good in New York State. But to imply that the medical care in Mexico is somehow better than in the States, particularly in New York State, just boggles my mind.

I think I would be careful with generalizations about sick people in New York State. It creates a divisive environment here.

Cootiegirl... No, no, no... My sincerest apology for the misunderstanding!

I wasn't picking on New York, let alone any sick people or Ny food. I LIKE New York.

I was painting a picture of a future world with NY and the whole USA under domination of evil HMO's... The ultimate end result of the quest for profits. No medical care whatsoever. People actually fleeing to Mexico for care.

Just a little dirge for the OPMC bill.

I'm very sorry it came across that way to you, I'll zap it before it offends anyone else.

Hi James,

I did read it before you "Zapped it"

I wasn't offended, I understood the sarcasism, especially after reading the posts about boycotting NY and the tourism factor.

Thank you James,
Much appreciated. I understood it was sarcasism but it just hit me the wrong way. I think we all carry a certain amount of pride for the states we live in.

While I'm mad as all get-out over the governor's bad decision, I still like the state I live in....

The post out of Canada about boycotting tourism in NYS didn't bother me as much.....I think it was the part about New Yorkers being infected with many diseases that got me...it made it sound like NYS is a leper colony! And unfortunately that may be where many of our states are headed....many sick people with improper care and people too scared to set foot in these states...

That's the downside of computers - you can't get the intonation of the post....

Oh and by the way....I deleted the part about spitting in the food - it's only a fair trade off!

It is a leper colony.

I see sick childrem ALL over my town, those eerie dark circles..the parents don't know because the DOCTORS won't treat OR DIAGNOSE because of the runaway medical board operating on insurance complaints!!!

(mad face at situation, none of my good buds here)

We have to stand up and hit em where it hurts.

Enough playing by the book.

Tha CanLymne alert is right on the money.

I think we should get it out any way we can, in every state, and on all travel websites as JimW suggests.

This is a dangerous state for Lyme, and if infected...noone has the nerve to treat you beyond three weeks for fear of loosing their licence. AND, you don't even get that without a rash.

IMO, you weren't too far off, James..

Though a bit hard on us NYers..it's not contagious..but still..

Thank you for understanding that I meant no malice to New Yorkers. New York just happenned to be the state with the bad news.

Actually I think the situation here in Texas may be worse. Are we down to 1 or maybe 2 doctors for the whole state now that treat Lyme?

It sounds like in New York the Ducks will still give you an appointment, listen briefly (condescendingly), and THEN begin insulting you, denying treatment, and causing trouble. And of course take your money.

Here, we are not even considered worthy of a direct personal insult... They have their receptionists do it over the phone when you call for an appointment. At least the insults do not cost $250 apiece.

In Mexico, as JO3 points out, good luck finding a Dr. that understands Lyme. Just like here there are good doctors and bad ones.

But at least they will see you and try to do what you want them to do for you... and often without an appointment. Take a seat and wait for your turn.

Basic antibiotics are available inexpensively OTC. More exotic meds are a bit of a problem.

If a Dr. chose to specialise in Lyme I doubt anyone would interfere as long as his treatment was somewhat within the bounds of normal medicine.... and didn't kill (too many?) people.

I would not be shocked to see some of our few remaining LLMD's relocating their practices to places like Mexico before this is over.

...Spend a few days in Cozumel to see your LLMD, the savings on your meds will cover the cost of the trip. It could happen.

How can I say this? Without offending anyone.

It is nice to love your country, but what if it doesn't love you back?

It betrays you at every turn.
Betrays the children and the future generations because of the almighty dollar?

I am talking about Canada too. They will get theirs with the Olympics.

We as a group need to stick together regardless of borders. New York state is right beside Canada. Might as well be the same country.
