I've been on rocephin since 11/8 2 gm. daily.
I was also put on 1000 flagyl about a month ago (second week of December). It sounds insane, but after my 2nd week of flagyl, I was psychologically lost and it felt like the tip of my nose was constantly stinging, like vibrating. I laughed at it. My doc took bloods and everything was low, WBC, RBC, hemocrit...She suspected I was peaking. She took bloods 2 days later, WBC went up from 2.8 to 3.7 in 2 days and everything was going back on the way up. That week was the best psychologically that I've had since March when this hell began. This week was horrible again, couldn't turn my neck, feeling flu-like, but now my lip is doing the same thing, quivering, almost twitching. She upped me to 3GM rocephin and I have a few days left of flagyl. I'm acting like myself to everyone, but I feel without conviction or identity which alone sounds crazy. I have positive tests (recently low postives.) In June, I had 3 positives in the igm and 7 positives in the IGG. I know tests really don't account for much with this disease. I've have had heart irregularities (v-tac) since last June while on oral doxi, have hypothyroidism and always had ocd (not excessively but just enough to always be worried about something.) I'm on zoloft 125mg. The zoloft has lessened the degree of worry, but I feel farthest from myself.

I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

it could be herxing...

or neuromyotoxicity as related to the flagyl. flagyl has peripheral neuropathy as a listed side effect.

but peripheral neuropathy can be a symptom of lyme as well.

if you discontinue the flagyl and the symptoms stop you have your answer. discuss it with your dr.

have you had a babesia test or been treated for babesia?

Hi Cigi,

I have actually taken Rocephin and Flagyl together.

And Rocephin caused nightmares in the beginning, so I knew it was definitely hitting something in the brain.

But then, when you add in the Flagyl -----well that did a double whammy on the nerves. I learned Flagyl also goes to the brain.

I just read about Flagyl in a different form, that's suppose to be easier to tolerate.

Previously, you could only get Tinidazole at a compounding pharmacy, but the new Tindamax should hopefully be available at regular pharmacies.

jdsee on Lymenet purchased Tindamax from Bigelow Pharmacy in NYC 212.533.2700.

Hope this helps.

Take Care,
Jan
