Yesterday, for several hours I felt like an eyelash or something was in my right eye. There was nothing there but it felt like there was.

The same feeling happened this morning and on and off throughout the day. I had to dig into last Summer's "Bells Palsy Bag" full of all sorts of eyedrops. The lubricating gel helped a little. GenTeal Gel worked great when I had BP (from Lyme).

Is this feeling like something is in my eye yet another Lyme Symptom?

It may well be.

I get this, too. Sometimes, I notice a small sore on the inner rim of my eyelid, upper or lower. It is flesh colored and small. It disappears as mysteriously as it appears.

I have all sorts of trouble with my eyes. I know that Lyme bacteria love invading this area.

I get this all the time - mine is called Keratitis - very painful and needs attention because it leaves scars on my cornea.

Not saying that is what you have but seeing an opthamologist wouldn't hurt.

I'm so sorry, I know how painful this is.

This is practically the only symptom my 12 year-old daughter has. Is your keratitis from Lyme? Becuase two of us have Lyme, I had her tested, just based on this one symptom and a few aches and pains. She tests very positive (CDC positive) on the IgM Western Blot.

She is on tetracycline, but I am nervous at times abuot the abx with just this one symptom, and sometimes think "oh, maybe it was jsut an eyelash afterall." This child is a dancer and she would get this awful sensation in her eye in the middle of a class or even a performance.

It seems that puberty makes Lyme flare, so I am keeping her on abx for awhile. ON abx, she doesn't get this problem at all. As soon as she comes off, her eye starts bothering her again! She's come off three times and gone right back on again.

Turns out some of her respiratory problems also come back off abx, her feet go numb in the care, and she gets a little bursitis type of thing in different places. But its the eye thing that prompted the testing...

My other daughter had eye pain, blurriness and floaters and that is what prompted me to first test her as well!

It is so hard to know what the keratitis is from, i also have bartonella, erlichia and babs plus mycos and some other issues - I'm sorry I can't be more specific in helping her.

I'm also so sorry about your daughter, both of my kids have congenital lyme and i see my 12 year old son starting puberty and having odd symptoms which may or may not be lyme related too.

Does your daughter have dry eye?

One thing i thought odd was that supposedly keratitis is from an autoimmune disease which supposedly lyme isn't - so my thought is - is something else going on.

I am so sorry I can't help.

I wish you luck.

If it's autoimmune then it could be from Lyme, or it could be separate. I our family, three of us have positive autoimmune labs as well as positive Western Blots. The autoimmunity calms down w/Lyme treatment for most people who have both these things going on. Plaquenil helps w/this too.

BTW when my son was 12 he had a lot of weird stuff. Cardiac, tremors, weakness, even a short manic episode. He now tests for a positive Lyme-specific band (83/93), but has no symptoms at all and is doing great. He was never treated w/abx. He may just flare up again in 5 years, or 10, or20...

My older daughter, who has been very sick, started having major Lyme problems w/puberty. And now my youngest has these minor problems and tests very positive. They are both in treatment.

It's hard to know what to do. My son pulled through fine, although I had to take him out of school for 6 months. He never ahd any meds. My youngest might be able to do the same but the horrendous illness of my other daughter has scared me and we are treating her sister no matter how minor her symptoms.

Good luck with your son!

Another possibility is conjunctivitis. I am a school nurse and just sent home one of the kids with pink eye so I may have it on the brain. But, I had bacterial conjunctivitis and the first symptom I had was it felt as if I had something in my eye. That went on for several days before it got really bad. I never did have any drainage nor did my eye get really pink. But, it started to really hurt and I got very light sensitive to the point where it felt like knives were going through my eye whenever any light hit it. Within twenty-four hours of treatment (eyedrops) I was back to normal. Just another idea. Good luck.

This is a common symptom for me. I was like that for months before I knew I had lyme especially during my period.

My eye pupils are pretty small, but when on abx and they are getting to the brain they will enlarge, but they always respond to light.

first I was told it was allergies and then dry eye. I get little releif from the eye drops but when bad will use them but seems to make it worse at times.

I was sure the doctor would tell me I was going blind but didn't. Said inflammation allergies this milder stuff but left eye is worst and will swell. It is swollen last night and today is bothering me still.

It comes and goes. Mostly the same stuff all the time.

My son acts like theeir is stuff in his eyes all the time, his eyes are just like mine. Red irritated, or white inside, comes and goes for him too.

I have chronic dry eye so I get this sensation all the time.

How's your tear production?

Perhaps my tear production is decreasing. My right eye was better most of today but now my left eye is starting to feel funny.

The fact that this symptom comes and goes unpredictably makes me think it is a new lyme symptom.

Thanks all for the responses.
