I have Lyme/babesia and heavy metal toxicity and was wondering if any of you have borderline high Iron levels.

Mine are:

Iron: 166
TIBC: 396
Transferrin Saturation: 42
Ferritin: Low at 18??

Very strange numbers.

Anyone?

I am wondering if this points to Iron Overload.

My Dr. of Chinese Medicine told me I had too much iron in my blood last summer after checking my pulses.

I am taking nothing with added iron and currently am not on ABX.

Thanks!

Chris

An article I have on hemochromatosis shows that your numbers are in the range of people who are carriers, but much below those of full blown iron overload disease.

Seems to be some differences of opinion on whether numbers like yours require treatment or not.

That ferritin number seems odd.

Some things might be factors to consider -- age, sex for instance.

How do you know you have heavy metal toxicity?

Lots of foods are fortified with iron these days. Read labels and you can see this. Might want to lay off foods naturally containing high iron, like liver, spinach, etc. Also, use steel instead of aluminum and cast iron cookware.

You are sure your multivitamin doesn't have iron? Many do.
