Please help! What can I use for itchy, dry skin. This problem is from head to toe and ALL places in between. Thank-you for any suggestions.

Are you on the no yeast no sugar diet? When I started cheating I got itchy crawly skin that kept me up at nite.
Also Grapefruit seed extract helped me within 1 day.

Martha, I think it depends on why your skin is dry and itchy. Some suggestions: Essential fatty acids, such as fish oil capsules or coconut oil.
Put a capful of Alpha Keri bath oil in a basin of water, and take a sponge bath with it. Don't use soap. We did this in the hospital for patients with very dry skin.
Have you had this problem for long? Have you started any new medications? Have you tried anything that helped?

Have you had your thyroid checked lately?? Hypothyroid can sure cause this~~ Have you tried taking an asprin for the itch? That's all that helped me when I would get the "sun" itch

ug, I just started itching too! Only it's my nerves not my skin I think. The skin itself doesn't seem to be dry or anything. And also the itching seems to be more inside, like in the nerves. mostly on my thighs but also my forearms and joints I don't have a yeast infection, and I'm on thyroid medicine..so it's not that either. My allergies are really bad, but I've never had that cause itchy skin before. I'm thinking for me it's maybe a new unpleasant nerve symptom besides the nails on chalkboard and pain that I get sometimes. Not sure it it's die off or just random. I should be hitting my 3rd 4 week die off in a few days though. I've tried lotion and lanacane so far to no effect. My xanax, which also seems to help with my weird nerve pain, seemed to help last night. But it makes me sleepy so I can't take it during the day. Eeek! Itch!

Hmm...interesting. My skin used to itch a lot but I always attributed it to yeast and would take Diflucan (I had it to take as needed) and it seemed to help, but not go away. I was recently diagnosed with Hashimoto's which is a essentially hypothyroidism, but an autoimmune thing, and now that I think about it, since starting the Thyroid I haven't had as much trouble with itchy skin! Interesting. I hadn't heard of itchy skin being a symptom of hypothyroidism.
So in theory, my itchiness was a side effect of the Cholystramine I've been taking.

When I started having all-over itching - the kind of itching that makes you want to claw your skin off instead of sleeping at night....I asked my LLMD to give me an Rx for an anti-yeast/fungal med.
He said, "No, not now. You're most likely having a histamine reaction. Take Benadryl."
I did. It helped.
But just because my situation was histamine...that doesn't mean yours is...

So we've tracked my itching down to being a nerve condition triggered by the lyme. It's been getting worse. Yesterday was particularly bad...it reminded me of chicken pox, which makes sense I suppose. What I found that seems to work is a very small dose of xanax I took .25mg today and also applied some lotion to which my doctor added B12 and kenagol. I still have some mild itching but it's tolerable.

If your itchy skin is due to dryness, in addition to increasing your fluid intake, you can coat your skin with baby oil or mineral oil following your shower while wet.
Don't dry off first. This will seal in the moisture. Be careful not to slip. Safer to step out of the shower first onto a towel to catch any oil that may drip. Apply liberally.

Does it look like you have a rash at all?
The first thing I thought of when I read your post was hypothyroid. You might want to get it checked.
How is your hair? Do you have any other possible signs of hypothyroidism?
