Or when you have a unexplainable pain like when I had severe headaches and I mean severe!
Turned out I had lyme induced encephilitis thats bad needed to up my anti inflamation meds that helped iot eventialy passed.
Its really up to you and your Dr if it dosent bother him why not?
But I would only call with important questions have them written down so you dont forget the LLMD's answers.
I agree, use this 24/7 support, educational board instead.
Call your dr. ONLY when you don't get good info here. That way you don't cry wolf and really need the help sometime.

That was years ago before much was known. I developed new severe symptoms almost daily and was very frightened. So I would touch base with him or he would call me almost everyday.
He learned so much from me as he studied as we went along. I learned much from him too.
We worked as a team which is very hard to find to that extent.
I am thankful for the support and knowledge he gave to me and my family.
Not many out there like that, is there?
I think if you have a question most definitly call the office and speak to a nurse or leave a message for the doctor.
I would start the Ceftin if I felt I was over the herx. The worst that could happen is that you would feel worse again. If that happens, you stop the Ceftin. Or call your dr's office!

No doctor knows your body like you. They don't have all the answers. There is not a clear cut answer for everyone.
I know you are terrified about what is going on with you Aliyalex, but doctors are not gods and they don't always give the best advice in some circumstances.
If you are feeling too toxic and everything in your body is screaming HELP, then it is good advice to back off the abx for a few days and then start again after the body starts to calm down.
Much of the herx like feelings that people experience are the organs like the liver, spleen, gall bladder, colon, kidneys screaming for help because they can't keep up.
Detox, detox detox those organs and then start again. What they are suffering is the most important thing. All the other pains are secondary.
Remember this is a very slow reproductive bacteria. 30 day cycle. It's mean as hell and it will fight you to the bitter end.
Don't give up. You can win this war. This is a great support group. Is your LLMD also an alternative thinking doctor who gives write-ups about detoxing, alternative methods of healing along with abx?
Take care, Pam
My LLMD is Dr C. He does do alternative things compared to other docs, but not HBOT or herbs or things like that. I have ozone, but it is too far from my house now. Maybe this weekend I will ask my husband to move it closer so I can use it.
I haven't spoken to my old ND since my lyme dx. I thought about calling him. It will be expensive. What other alternative things would you suggest? Ilene
Dr C has very informative write-ups on detoxing and many other alternative things. He knows this is not an abx only ordeal for many of his chronic patients.
You need to use the best of both worlds since you have him and a ND. Your ND can help you alot with different ways to detox. One example for myself,I found weekly lymph drainage (by a good tech) for 6 months very beneficial.
I know it's expensive to go this route. But IMO I had no other choice.
Take care, Pam
I recommend skyking's book on rife. It will help you understand alot of things about Lyme. And if you see Rife as a possibility, he gives info on that too.

by all means back off the abx if you feel you need to...someone here kept telling me "slow and steady wins the race" when i was herxing so much i thought i'd die...In retrospect it was good advice and is really true.
also the need to constantly detox is right!!
colonics, lymphatic drainage, hot epsom salt baths, coffee enemas, and an easy one is to get some buffered C powder and some emergen-C packets at health food store, drink a tablespoon of C powder w/emergen-C sipping these drinks throughout the day...you can take as much as you want until you start to get loose stools...then back off a little. I don't know where the thread on vita C for detox, but i tried it and it really helps...you can search it here or google it....take megadoses of C powder but be sure its ok with whatever abx you are taking. some abx you cannot take magnesium close to it...the rest of the day drink that water with vitamin C!! That will clean out your liver and gall bladder!
good luck and hang in there!! it will get better!
