I need to supply some documentation to my long term disability carrier (the lovely Unum). Of course, the search is not working for me (it never has) and I need links to articles or papers.
I read some that suggested lyme was much like heart problems -- listed levels etc. I just need pointing in the right direction.
Any links on the reasons why lyme is disabling etc. I have lyme, bartonella and probably babesia.
Any help would be appreciated, my lyme brain is not researching well today.

you will find it vitually impossible to get money from unum without a lawyer with specialty in your specific field of occupation. if you don't believe this to be true do a google search on unum and you will find thousands of lawsuits against them for non-payment of their obligations. i had the same problem with equitable and it took 3 years of litigation and $40,000 to finally get paid. unum is the worst carrier in the country for paying disability claims nad i'm sorry to say you are going to have your hands full for quite some time. it will probably have to go to court for you to get paid so make sure you have every piece of documentation from doctors, labs, anything to win your case.

I know Unum is horrible but I have been paid for two years already - fortunately or unfortunately my test results, doc letters, SPECT scans have all helped.
In addition, I happen to work for a great law firm (they do exist) and they have been helping me with any disputes.
I am back to work on a part-time basis and it has been more difficult with their formulas. BME indexes - all over my head. So my "over two year review" is where I expect to run into the awful side of Unum.
I actually have all the case law against them (again law firm. Thanks for the info everyone, it should be interesting.
