I am new to all of this. I have been ill for approx. 5 years. No abx. yet. Just catsclaw.

I have new symptoms this month and along with them I have had an annoying sinus-thing. This will not go away (4 wks)!! I cannot hear in one ear despite the earwax removal and medicine that the Dr. provided. Worst of all, my nose remains freezing cold at the tip and when I breathe it feels like I am snorting chlorine. Is this just another Lyme thing? Does this sound familar to anyone? Does anyone have a good ole' remedy?

This by-far has been the worst flare-up ever! I now have major neuro. junk! I was brain-washed into thinking that my positive WB was not b/c of Lyme . . . I did not have the + Elissa. I am afraid that I am in the Chronic Stage! I cannot walk well on my right leg, have almost total body numbness, cannot sleep, think, and now have the Bell's palsy. Take it from me, do not listen to the ID's. I am now frantically searching for a LLMD.

Thanks for reading!

So sorry to hear you are so ill.

If you have Bell's Palsy and your face is actually drooping I would suggest 2 things -- first get a camera and take pictures -- be sure you write the dates on the back when they are developed.

Second, if you think you might have any problems with insurance paying for future treatments I would go to a general MD and have them document in writing that they observed your Bell's Palsy -- ask them flat out to write this in your medical records. Any doctor or urgent care clinic (if there is one) should be able to do this if your face is obviously drooping.

It doesn't matter if they agree to diagnose your Lyme or not -- you may need this documentation for medical insurance or disabiltiy insurance at some point.

Actually it might be a good idea to take some printouts with you -- maybe you can talk someone into at least starting you on Doxycycline while you wait for an LLMD appt.

I am going to suggest a couple of herbs, but this is not medical advice and you should research them yourself to see if they might help your sinus problems.

Echinacea, Goldenseal, Olive Leaf Extract, or Oregano Oil capsules all come to mind as possibilities. I would pick one and start slow and gradually increase the dose and if that one doesn't help either try another one or add a 2nd herb to the 1st one.

This will be trial and error as not everyone responds to the same things and you don't know if the sinus problem is directly caused by the Lyme or some other virus/bacteria since your immune system has been weakened by the Lyme.

See the thread below for more links to info on Bell's Palsy.

Laura,
Read this information about Serrapeptase. http://smart-nutrition.net/serrapeptase-research.htm

It can help sinus issues.

Very good suggestion about the photos!

Hope you can find an LLMD very soon so that you will be on the road to recovery!!

Be sure to get SEVERAL referrals from patients who are very happy with the LLMD you select. And it's best to get referrals from patients who are not brand new to this dr.

In the meantime, hang with us!

Do not take anything I say as medical advice. I am not a doctor, but I DID stay at a Holiday Inn Express!

WOW!!!
Five YRS! That Sucks! I wish you well! I have been ill for just over a year. I am still working, never have taking time off, do most of everything, climbing stairs can be a test, if there is a good amount. I have heard, and read that a good amount of people recover at a very high percentage rate, 90-100, after being ill for a few years...Try some orals for now, but if they want to put you on IV, go for it! I read that one woman was feeling nearly 100% better after being ill for 3 years, when she had 4 wks IV of Roceph.

Hope you feel better!

Yes Ive had this daily for at least a year.

I had some repeated chemical exposures to PVC in a sauna and also some citronella exposure (DONT ASK)

any way I know whatyour saying about smelling like chlorine.

Actually my symptoms are this.

Ear pain
post nasal drip
sore throat
vertigo
fullness in ears
reduced sense of smell
very dry nose
odours smell like ammonia
regular chemicals smell caustic

I dont think its an inflamation thing.,, something entirelly different.

I did the nasal steroid think and all that did was give me a bloody nose.

Im just praying that It will get better with time. And in this case its lots of time.

You might want to try gargling with grapefruit seed extract nightly (like 10-15 drops in some water, then swallow it).

Or I think there is a xylitol nasal spray out there called Xlear, which seemed to help me a bit.

All the docs, LLMDs or not, say my sinus are a mess, so I know what you mean.
