One of the first Lyme symptoms my hubby had was what he calls "fuzzy vision" -- he was having difficulty reading the newspaper. He has failed the VCS every time he has taken it. Changes in eyeglass prescriptions and the use of eye gel for dry eyes have not helped.

Has your husband been treated with IV antibiotics?
My son (age 14) was having problems with "fuzzy" vision. Some days he couldn't read textbooks or magazines. This makes it difficult when you are a student.
He also has a paper sensitivity so it was hard to find "readable" books. He could read magazines because of the coated paper.
Since he has been on IV Primaxin, he is able to read books and magazines again.
He does see a pediatric ophthalmologist and his eyes are healthy so it was a brain issue.
He failed the VCS test online and at his LLMD's office.

Bea, except to say that it's supposed to detect subtle vision deterioration, I don't know enough about the test to comment on it. Few doctor's offices have one. Sorry.

Thanks pab and Jim. Hubby had 2 months of IV Rocephin about 1 1/2 years ago, but had not treated coinfections (babesia and bartonella) at that time. Dr C in Missouri wants to put him on IV Primaxin soon, but not sure we can afford it and very undecided on course of treatment right now.
The neuro-opthalmologist hubby consulted to do the vision test for plaquenil refused to do the test. We had previously seen him and he discounted the VCS test and hubby's positive Lyme tests and MRI radiology report which concluded brain lesions were consistent with Lyme disease.
He even went so far as to write the LLMD neurologist who prescribed the IV Rocephin despite the fact that at the time hubby's neuro symptoms had improved about 25% due to IV meds.
We had previously provided this LLMD with the 10 or so neuro reports which were all basically negative (no pathologic disease -- go see a psychiatrist for anxiety/ depression etc.).
The LLMD spent at most 10 minutes on the whole stack and the rest of the 1 1/2 hour appt looking at lab reports, doing a neuro exam and explaining the MRI films to us. We felt like we had the last laugh on this guy since the LLMD had already practically ignored his office notes.
Hubby can't concentrate for more than 1/2 hours at a time to read. IV Rocephin temporarily improved this, but don't think it actually helped with vision issues.

Jordan's thinking is clearer on most days since starting IV Primaxin. He is on 250 mg 3/day.
Jordan is a homebound student. His teacher is seeing a big difference in his ability to think and concentrate this year. We gave up on math last year and he is doing OK in Algebra now.
