I was listening to some Lyme-related conference tapes recently where they mentioned that almost everyone has borrelia dentalis in plaque in the mouth. Has anyone heard of this? Is borrelia dentalis enough to cause a WB to show a positive 41 band? Thanks

My understanding is that if 'gum disease' has developed, then yes that will trigger band 41.

that's one I have never heard of; rather I have not heard it referred to as such.
The Borrelia infection is common in the mouth, tissue/nerves/jawbone- I lost my teeth because of this. One reason why they are so difficult to get rid off. We have the smallest capillaries in that area and if some of the teeth are borderline or dead already contributing more dental toxins, blood/oxygen flow is more impaired.
Would be interested to know who called it by that name, Scott.

Hi Gigi, I was listening to tapes from the OMH Lyme conference in Feb 2005 and on one of the various presentations, it was referenced as such. I'll have to see if I can find which doctor it was again that was speaking.
