Hi folks,
Well my MD who I happen to like very much discussed with me yesterday that he had finlly read through all of Dr B's guidelines for chronic Lyme treatment and he says he doesn't know enough about it and hes very gunsy of getting into it with me because he's unsure of what he's doing.. I give him credit for his honesty. He's always been straight with me
I also have a problem with swallowing because of digestive issue's and he thinks it has to do with a motility problem as well as delayed gastric emptying. he has suggested giving me Eurythromicin. He said this antibiotic has been known to help "speed" things up in the digestive tract and he said it may help keep the lyme is check as well..
He has me starting on a low dose. 3/4's of a teaspoon 3 times a day with food for atleast 3 months to start. Has anyone else ever taken eurythromicin for Lyme or co infection? I dont think I ever remember this antibiotic being mentioned in treatment for TBI's but then again with my memory it could be starin me in the face and I'd forget it... I'd appreciate any input..
Thanks so much

I'm sorry I can't answer your question. I don't know much about the "mycins," but a word of caution.

My primary care physician was not a Lyme expert, but he treated me for 7 years. Although his heart was in the right place he did not have the knowledge to satisfactorily treat my LD. As a result, despite treatment, my health deteriorated.

Now I am seeing an LLMD who has been treating the ailment for 20 years.

As I think you suspect, if you are taking the wrong medications you will not get better. It's trial and error and there are many variations in treatment.

Good luck!

Are you spelling this med correctly? Never heard of it.

On the other hand, if you mean erythromycin, it is not being used with lyme. Says in Dr. B guidelines that it is not effective, and I remember seeing a published report that it was resistant in lyme cases.

If this doc is willing to give you a med, why not doxycycline instead?

Hi,

Erythromyicin is one of the drugs that they say has little or no affect on lyme, My llmd did put me on it for bartonella alone with ciproflaxin, so it does have some action against bart.
