Ok, so i decided i would try some of the cream to try to relieve some of the minimal discomfort that was left.

well about 10 min after it touched my skin i was burning like mad. i know the package says may cause burning and swelling but this is nutz.

I even tested a lil bit first and it didnt cause this much burning.

so basically now i am back to square one but worse. Prob having another allergic reaction .... I just cannot win

Its either that or the Difflicun is wearing off........it doesnt seem to last that long in my system.

Once again i am awake very early.....and will never make the mistake of using this stuff again!!! ive tried everything to alleviate the burning and nothing is working...i guess it just needs to wear off.

anyonelse have this?

YES, i have had the same thing happen. I cant use the stuff either.

I have had great luck with Terconazole Vag Cream.

I fought the yeast for A LONG time. Its actually one of the reasons i quit ABX.

I posted on this board so many times trying to figure out what i could do to get better with my female yeast problems. It sucks.

I had to use penicillin for a dental infection a week ago. I used a product by Natren, which has probiotic capsules you can insert into your vagina. I did NOT get a yeast infection from the ABX since i inserted the probiotics to replace my good bacteria.

Im sure you have, but, are you sure its yeast? I fought a Strep B infection 4 different times. Had to use ABX for that too. But, they really helped.

I have used diflucan, vfed and nizoral. I swear im immune to diflucan now. Besides, it started to make my hair fall out. Its also very hard on your liver as im sure you know.

Have your doctor prescribe the terconazole. It really has helped me in the past.

Blessings,

Jordan

Hey, Can't!

I do NOT think you're allergic to Monistat.

I think the problem is just that you're quite sore and sensitive at the moment. That does not mean you're allergic.

If you apply it and then just CHILL, the 'burning' you describe WILL subside. The next application will be much better.

The Diflucan has a fairly long shelf life in your body so it isn't "wearing off."

There are homeopathic things to try too, such as yogurt, or probiotic capsules dissolved in water, etc. -- I just could never logistically figure all that out.

Good luck. You're almost there.

did you try the 7 day or 3 day monostate?

The 3 day monistate is like fire to me when I use it b.c it is a stronger dose...

The 7 day of either the terazol and Monistate seem ok for me....

Yes,When's I have had a really bad yeast infection the first couple of days it can burn .This usually goes away in 3-4 days. This is usually because the yeast infection has spread to the out side & become imflamed.

I have tred hydrocortsone 2%(unscented cream on the out side).alonge with the mon. 7.It has gotten me through some initial burning.
Take care D

i used the 3 day...........its a lil better now, mostly feels numb. and now my lower back hurts.

I assume it is yeast because the difflicun took away the burning.....my groin area is still real stiff and sore though....which is no fun, yesterday was a somewhat good day now today is horrible.
I think this is more systemic yeast then a true yeast infection that monistat could handle.

I am so glad that you have a script for diflucan.

Have you tried Nystatin as well?

Also the Yeast away suppositories are pretty good from the health food store as a more natural approach to treating vaginal yeast,

I am so glad you have some relief and answers!

i think the monistat set me back :-( it feels like day one all over again.

And i feel flu like (herx, maybe) I can only pray the burning will fade and i will be like i was yesterday, I really was healing.

i worry it isnt yeast.........and im just too tired of this fight. Trying to figure out what it is.....im just tired.

dear can't,
last time i was told to use the suppositories on the outside of the vagina where the inflamation is located.

it's kinda wierd applying the suppository outside, but it helped.

good luck

gosh, this has been going on and on for you, hasn't it"?

i feel for you

best,

When I used the cream, I did get the burning when I applied it to the inside tissues. When I stayed more external, it did not burn.

Don't know if it was the location, or the timing and sensitivity of infection.

The three day cream worked for me. It did burn especially the first night. I was such a mess by the time I finally used it. Red, burning, itching, swollen, low back pain... I used the vulvar cream too that came with the monistat (maybe I got CVS generic). I remember reading labels in the store to try to avoid preservatives.

Amazingly the infection went away completely. I was already on the anti yeast diet but after that really bad infection I became ultra strict on the diet. I don;t ever want to have a yeast infection that bad again.

Now I'm using Theralac and various other enteric coated proiotics designed to survive the stomach. They are making a big difference. Yeast is under control and I can even cheat a little tiny bit.

Good Luck,

I added a probiotic specific for vaginal support and it turned me around REAL quick...so far it is working beautifully. I know I ahvent been on abx as long as most but I highly recommend it. Surely cannot hurt!! [Big Grin]

Could be you don't have a yeast infection. If it is a bacterial infection, Monistat can make it worse.

Were you tested for a yeast infection? If not, you should get tested before using Monistat. They now have an over the counter test that will change color depending on the type of infection. You can try that or go to a doctor.

Vaginal irratation is one sx I've had off and on since I became ill. I have not been on any abx for 4 yrs. I do not have a discharge which I remember from teen years.

I only experience itching, burning, swelling and it is mostly a night time problem. It has been a sx that slips down my list of sx until I have a flare up again.

I've heard about these test kits that are now available for testing yourself. I've tried all the cremes and they don't work, the problems are right back.

YES!!! I had an allergic reaction to Monistat waaay back in '94. I've never used it since! It's even listed on my medical charts as an allergy/allergic reaction.

I thought it was just the mother of all yeast infections or something. Instead of improving, it just got drastically worse. I became so raw, I started bleeding from it.

It took 3 days of bedrest, ice packs, and pain killers before I could even walk! What an ordeal that was!

Thank goodness I haven't had too many problems with vaginal yeast infections in the past several years. There's some sort of compound that's similar to diaper rash ointment that the doctor has on file for me to use.

I'm sure there's another way to treat it now, but I've been fortunate so I haven't had to find out. Please let us know how you're doing, okay?

Take care,

terri3boys

I had the same reaction. My gynecologist did too! She said it is an allergic reaction to one of the ingredients (sorry, I can't remember which one).

She switched me to Nystatin, and that felt a LOT better.

Good luck!

This a an old post, but thanks for the suggestions, the original infection did turn out to be bacterial, which took 2 gyns and an NP to diagnose.

The majority of my symptoms still remain in my pelvis.

Didn't notice the original post date. But a good lesson to other people. Don't treat a yeast infection without confirmation! Antifungal creams can make non-yeast infections worse!

I've heard good things about the new over the counter test. I think it's like $20, which is less than a doctor's appointment and lab test.

I'm so glad you found the source of your discomfort, and got some relief!

For the record, since I don't tolerate mineral oil-based products well, and they often give me pain or a rash, I have had to find other products that work for yeast infections.

The one that is cheapest and works best for me is to actually insert a clove of garlic overnight. Sometimes I have done this for up to three nights in a row before getting complete relief. Yes it does have a transient unpleasant side effect, unless you really like essence of the Mediteranian.

Probiotic douche works well, or just insertion of a small amount of probiotic powder.

I have read that boric acid works well, but it has not worked so well for me.

Best of luck ladies.
