Tree, may I suggest you edit the topic title and include Barb's name as shown in what you copied... more helpful for the receiver IF they receive like you did!

Thanks for the heads-up Tree!

[hi]

I just spoke to Bill Stolow. He says there are no viruses on his PC.
Running Norton AntiVirus. All AV signatures are current and scan is clean.

Here's how these viruses work. Infect ANY PC on the internet.
Look up address book on the PC it infected.
Pick an address as the "Reply-To" so it looks like any email sent
is coming from that address and NOT the email address of the user
of the PC that it infected.
Now broadcast to all other addresses in the address book of the
infected PC ... an effective attempt to spread the virus to other PC's
which, if not protected, will become infected and repeat the cycle.

I hope YOU have an "industrial strength" AV program on YOUR PC.

Tree-

Can you please send me a copy of the full E-mail headers of the message so that I can tell you for sure where this came from, and if it truly is from Bill (and not just a "spoofed" E-mail address) then we can take care of his machine.

Thanks for posting this. I don't know much about this stuff, but I've heard some of these things are quite tricky -- they can evade the AV software of the hosting machine, and still replicate and send --

Sounds a bit like the cystic form of Bb, doesn't it????
