Lesley, go to TREEPATROL'S NEWBIE LINKS. He has excellent examples showing what the numbers are for & include there for western blot igg/igm.

I read you are positive for 2 each according to IGX's criteria;; doesn't meet CDC's specs.

Using a probabalistic approach, your results indicate some type of exposure. The reason I say this is the the IND bands are primarily the important bands, while the non specific ones are negative. This fact that the IND are selective means something.

The bigger question is ??WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS??. If you have none then the results may just indicate past exposure. If you have a lot of Dr confirmed chronic lyme like symptoms, then the results can arguably support that clinical diagnosis of active disease.

Hope that helps.

Lesley:

Had you taken a course of antibiotics before
blood was drawn for the test?

Have you been sick a long time?

Band 30 on a western blot is a substrate binding protein associated with OspA - OspA is specific for Lyme and it's usually only expressed after a person has Lyme for a long time.

Lyme also supresses part of the immune system- so it evades the immune's system to make antibodies to fight it.

IMO- even just this one band on the IgG (and the IND bands on the IgM) indicate Lyme.
What you do next will probably mainly fall to decisions your & your Dr. make, based on how you feel.

Looks like exposure. It could be that your immune system is weak or not recognizing the bugs. When evidence is there, as many as 40% or more will turn positive as treatment progresses. I would get an LLMD.
