Hi Gang!

I haven't been on recently but I need to find a mail order or onlin pharmacy where I can fill my prescription for Bicillin LA at a somewhat affortable price since BCBS/Keystone will not pay for it. [Mad]

Just a little update by the way-I sent in my 2nd appeal to BCBS along with a letter from my lawyer and two medical doctors.

There is a hearing scheduled in 30 days for me to present my case to the medical department. I don't think I'll get anywhere but at least I know I gave it my best shot.

Please any help would be appreciated with helping provide me with any info. You can PM me or post a reply. Thanks alot!

Go to www.lymenet.org Try to find a phone number and order a copy of the Lyme Times Insurance Issue...and have them send it to you pronto! There is lots of good info in there.

Good for you for giving it your best shot!

It is $35.00 for a basic one year membership to get Lyme Times. That's alot better than paying full price for the Bicillin shots, but still.

Any other suggestions?

Hi,

I'm having the same problem obtaining Bicillin-LA. I've checked seven retail pharmacies, my mail order pharmacy, even other countries. For the limited amount I could find, I had to pay the full cash price. Blue Cross denied paying any of it. I have filed a grievance with Blue Cross - haven't heard back yet. Good luck with your case against BCBS. Please keep us posted on how it goes. I'll post if I get any results. Yes, I do have the Lyme Times insurance issue, and it's particularly helpful for anyone who has to deal with IV Rocephin insurance issues - something that will probably be in my future.

Take care,
Jill

Did anyone come up with a good place to get this stuff? Does insurance usually cover these shots?

Thanks.

My insurance covers some of it. Unfortunately, even the hospital pharmacy (where I've been able to get the shots since mid February) is having trouble getting the IM bicillin now. We'll see what happens!

If you have AAA, they have a prescription savings plan for no charge. Their information is at AAA prescription plan

https://aaa.advancerx.com/advpcsrx_MemberSite/index.jsp

We saved a substantial amount of money with the plan.

Whats going on with the Bicillin situation? Is there a shortage nationwide? [Eek!]

LymeLaura,

Thats a good idea regarding the savings plan with AAA. I might check into that. I found Bicillin LA 1.2 MU at Walmart for $466.00 for 10 syringes but they were out of stock.

Gee, I wonder why? Its seems harder than getting a full tank of gas these days. But if I could stop at the pumps and fill up on Bicillin I would! LOL! [lol]

My understanding is that the shortage is due to King Pharmaceuticals taking over the manufacture of Bicillin from Wyeth Pharmaceuticals - Wyeth is a huge company, King has to build manufacturing facilities.

My hospital pharmacy cannot get either the 1.2MU or the 2.4 MU. UGH!
