Lyme? Babesia? Bart? etc...

Which one most commonly causes the cracking joints. I would like to start with that test first.

Also, how common is it to have unilateral symptoms with lyme? I asked this last year and I know a few had only one sided symptoms, but I was just curious if this was known as a common lyme disease thing.

Thanks.

I'd think generally speaking that the cracking joints is more lyme related. Though it's possible babs and bart can give similar symptoms.

When you say "one-sided" I'm assuming your referring to having pain/discomfort, etc. on only one side of your body ? If so, some with lyme do experience this. Lyme is such an indivualized thing that outstanding symptoms can widely vary.

Perhaps, if you were a little more specific it'd be easier to answer.

Hi Going,

I have the snap crackle pop joints. I tested positive for both lyme and Bartonella... I think that they can both case this though.

Lyme does cause one-sided symtpoms. It is one of the symptoms that is a red-light for Lyme.

Lyme also causes cracking in joints. It ususally means there is some inflammation there.

My worst physiological symptoms were on my right side -- numbness in my right foot, Lyme arthritis in my right knee and hip.

Like aniek said, I think one-sided symptoms are a big flag for Lyme.

I'm positive for Lymeand Bart...

thanks guys...

well i am a righty myself...and i only wish i would've pursued this lyme thing more last fall when i initially suspected it.

i am now almost 11 months into this whole ordeal and it is probably going to be another year or two now til i get better if i do actually have lyme.

how depressing...

Can be mycoplasma. I've been dx'ed with lyme and mycoplasma and have severe snap-crackle and pop issues.

I believe I read about this specificaly in one of the 3 library books I just turned back in.I will try to go back this evening and find out

one of my docs told me about mycoplasma. but didn't go into too much detail. is this cause by lyme?? can other conditions cause this?

what exactly is the mycoplasma?

If I start abx, will the test show up for mycoplasma while I'm on them? Specifically, amoxicillin.

All my symptoms are one sided. I have tested positive for Lyme and Erichliosis (HGE). This has been the most miserable experience i have ever been through, I am counting on it getting better.

The cracking joints is very common. I crack all the time. When I walk around or stand up for long periods my back tightens up and if I dont crack it by stretching on a yoga ball, its really uncomfortable. What does your LLMD say about your situation?

I find that I have cracking and snapping in my joints and bones when my muscles are either tightening or loosening a lot. I believe that if you work on trigger points (knots in the muscles)with a theracane you can alleviate some of the problem. Or perhaps a trip to the chiropractor would help.

That said, you may have cracking joints for a different reason and I'm not a doctor, just a patient who has been living with this for many years and am sharing what works for me in the hopes it will help you.

I tested negative for many years, many many tests. My LLMD would have diagnosed me clinically when the positive test came in.

yes i know this. i am just hoping for the positive test for some piece of mind. to be certain this is not all candida.

i took long term antibiotics before all my trouble started and it is going to be tough to choose lyme, candida or both.

i have a lot to lose if this was all just candida because i have been dieting and detoxing for a looooooooooooong time now and do not want to ruin everything by going back on antibiotics if they are in fact what got me here in the first place.

Have you been on the anti-yeast diet for an extended period of time as well??

My joints pop and crack, although they seem to do it less lately. I am treating Babs and Lyme.

I also have more symptoms on the right side than the left but some are on both.
Hmmm

Strange stuff!

lymetoo,
yes, i have been on a STRICT anti-candida diet since January - and was also on a little less strict of a diet from october to december of last year.

i have had a few cheats and lapses - only one cheat here in the new year...and i am still sick, but nowhere near as sick as a year ago.

my diet is much stricter than your regimen. we actually spoke last year when i first got ill and i didn't even know what candida was til i talked to you.

that is why i am now reconsidering lyme. because candida should be gone in my opinion, yet i still have lingering symtpoms and severe food allergies.

I've had the noticeably crackly popping sounds in joints since getting lyme, but with no pain. I've been positive for both lyme and mycoplasma, but negative on Babesia, bartonella, ehrlichiosis. According to "You the Owner's Manual", when knuckles crack, it's from the high pressure suction of gas being expelled when the joints move apart. Maybe there's something similar involved in our lyme joints due to what the bacteria are doing in our joint areas.

my joints don't hurt at all either

It does not seem bio/chem poss the this could cause cracking joints.
