I feel many of my symptoms are better in the five months on abx. However, I have horrible bouts of sever GI pain. I've been scoped and ultrasound to rule out something else.
Which coinfection caused the GI pain? Or is it just Bb? What abx may help? I have been on doxy, biaxin, tetra...thinking now is time for IV to get into the gut...it is really bad pain lasts for a week then goes away, comes back each month.

I think bartonella can. I sure had alot more GI stuff when the babesia was bad. But I still have alot of GI issues so I would like to know too.

Bartonella is known to cause GI problems. I had it and when they scoped me all they saw were some red spots. Lokking back that could be Bartonella. Later on, I did test positive for it.
My doctor uses Levaquin or Rifampin for Bartonella. Bad cases get up to 3 months of treatment.

Have you had FOOD ALLERGY TESTING done on you?
April I did & found out I'm allergic to:
GLUTEN - wheat products & anything with wheat in it.
CASEIN - cow's milks, egg whites, 3 types of cheeses, dairy products, etc.
So it's been my FOOD allergies causing me GUT problems for 35+ years!
I believe it was MERIDIAN LAB who did mine. It is posted in my lengthy post, 4-20-06 new LLMD summary & lab results update. Around $100.
LLMD had me do 12-18 complete body lab testings; many new diagnosis from that testings. Good luck.
I'd have the FOOD ALLERGY testings done before I went on IV! I'm not a MD or medical person.

Did you have tissue samples sent out for lyme/co-infection testing from your scopes?? My daughter's gastro refused to do it for us b/c "she doesn't believe in lyme". However, after the procedure, I called the pathology dept. at the hospital to ask them who legally owns "our tissue". They said they did, not the operating physician....Bingo...I then got the tissue samples sent out to MDL through our llmd. Still waiting for results. Hopefully the results will provide us with some answers since all others tests for lyme/cinfections have been neg. (Except for one positive 30 band on Igenx.
I believe bart and babs cause GI distress. However, lyme too. So, so frustrating to figure out which one, since so many symptoms overlap.

My daughter has had a lot of stomach pain. Some nausea, but pain in lower abdomen after eating.
She did get diagnosed with Bart in November.
The pain is lessening with the Bart treatment.
She takes hycosamine for the pain.
She had a failed piccline, so we tried suspension Zithromax. This is much easier on her stomach, so we will just do the liquid abx from here if possible.
so the Bart treatment could really help. Perhaps orals if you can stomach them(!) and picc if you just cant.

Thanks for input. I was scoped before we suspected lyme so no test on tissues.
I don't suspect food since I am fine for three weeks of the month eating most things.
The GI pain is accompanied by skin rash on my legs, headache and severe nausea...neck pain too.
If zithromax treats bart would biaxin too? I have been on Biaxin for four months.
So afraid of this every month would like to find some relief...I will ask for the hycosamine-char thanks,
Betty I will see if I can get allergy tested anyway.

Zofranil helps with nausea. I don't know if that's what you mean by GI problems. If it happens every 4th week it sounds like herx, which would lead me to believe that the die-off toxins load your gi tract and make you sick.
That's my best guess. My nausea has been bad since first major herx in December. But lower GI problems really started when I started mepron. Yuk. The mornings in particular are no fun.
Also, as I think I have shared with you before, my doc is a big believer in medical marijuana for the nausea and pain caused by lyme and the coinfections.

It is my understanding that you can still have tissue testing done even years later if the samples were stored in parafin wax in the pathology dept. at hospital. I don't know how long each hospital stores "biopsies" on patients. It may be worth a call.

Is your daughter using zith to treat the bart.? or something in addition to this?. My daughter is on zith also (since March) and slowly feeling less nausea. Do llmd's usually use zith for bart?? I would be happy to hear this, since all tests so far are neg., for co-infections, so it is a guessing game for us, but a good possibility it could be bart. or babs.
