A friend of mine recently was diagnosed with LD. She had been taking Clindamycin for a finger infection, so she increased the dose until able to get an appointment with a LLMD.

The Clinda has helped a lot of her symptoms.

However, prior to diagnosis, she developed a "lump" near her knee. It continued to grow and spread. She had an excision. The path report was "lipoma".

This lump and the knee area remain painful and very swollen, with the swelling now going into the lower leg. She is very frightened.

Has anyone experienced this? Is this Lyme-related?

Thank you!

I personally have never experienced this phenom with lyme and don't recall anyone here having had this symptom...

Sounds to me like your friend has something else besides lyme going on...

I could only speculate that it may be cancer because of how you describe it's growth..

She better get it looked at by someone in that area of expertise.

My father had Lyme Disease and his first symptom was a lump in the back of his knee (Baker's cyst) they called it.

I have it also and so does my 13-year-old dog, who has had a very bad case for years which I treat with antibiotics and have gotten it under control. He is very perky for 13. Throughout his life he has been covered with lipomas, which I think is a direct result from his Lyme and his detoxing mechanism.

Just my opinion!

I had severe swelling and pain in my knee for years during high school. It was my first symptom besides the rash.

I also had a cyst develop in the back of my knee. I think the Dr. said the cyst was caused by liquid accumulating behind the knee. It eventually just disappeared.

I never felt a lump. I had intense pain and I couldn't straighten my leg out.
