i'm getting discouraged!! am currently looking for another llmd. i was on amoxy for months, 3 pills a day. then i developed thrush and yeast so the doc (i was going to an infec doc) pulled the amoxy, gave me diflucan for 1 week and some kind of lozenge every 4 hours i'm awake every day.

my potassium and ammonia went up so she said go to primary, so i go. he says stop amoxy, take the last couple of diflucan every 3-4 days until gone and continue the lozenges.

but i'm having a problem and don't know if it's herx or allergic reaction and need your help.

since i was diagnosed with thrush i feel like my throat is closing up and i can't breathe. my chest is sore and my tongue and mouth burns.

i took my elavil one night and i don't know if it was the elavil or what, but i was thinking oh oh, er time. i mean my chest just short of closed up. i could tell i was freaking out and kept trying to calm down. it finally went away but i got scared and stopped the elavil.

is it the thrush/yeast causing this or the meds? my primary is now booked up and said i can't come and see him for at least a month and i'm frustrated with the infec doc. i told her nurse about this and she just said, "oh yeah, that's thrush, keep taking your meds.

i just freak out when this happens and start bouncing off the wall because i'm having trouble breathing and have to keep trying to calm down.

seems to be worse after i eat too.

geez, can anybody help? i looked up thrust and it didn't say anything about throat closing up or is this just another little lyme surprise???

Does it happen after you take a medicine?

I know you said it happens after you eat. You wouldnt happen to have acid reflux, would you?

Alot think that you will KNOW if you have reflux, cause it will burn. Thats not true, at all.

Maybe you have some reflux? Thats a suggestion, but Im just guessing.

Diflucan itself- one can be allergic to that. Did it start after taking it?

no matter what teh cause, throat closing is NOT normal! We kinda need it!

ohhh this is a very scarey thing. It happened to me also for months. I ended up changine each of my meds thinking it was an allergic reaction to one or another. In the end after completely changing all three of my meds it was still going on. I had to ultimately conclude that it is just lyme. I lost a lot of weight during this period because I was scared to eat or drink. This led to a real downward spiral. ultimately also it started happening on occasion even when I didn't eat or drink anything.

I don't have any great wisdom to offer on what you can do.

I would get a prescription for an epipen so that if it is happening and reaches the point where you aren't breathing you can at least stick yourself or have someone stick you.

I eventually got through this by just saying every day...that's one more day of meds and one more day of hitting at the root cause of this problem. Eventually the borrelia burgdorferi will die and the cause of the problem will die.
Slowly by slowly the problem stopped and now I am feeling better.

Try if you can not to allow this problem to result in getting too thin and losing strength!!

Good luck and hang in there.
