Yup. It's no fun not to be able to walk independantly. That's me now. [Frown]

I used to use a cane sometimes. Now, I need someone stable to hold onto in order to walk.

I can walk with a walker but not for longer distances. I get tired.

I'm at home and rely on the great help from family. I don't have 'full-time' help as I can still stumble around with the help of the walls to lean on.

I don't go out much at all anymore. I feel even worse these past few months ...

I was using a cane for several months due to severe one-sided hip pain, but am okay without it at the moment (knock wood).

I'm so sorry for those of you who need assistance walking-- that is a big drag. I wonder if insurance would cover a motorized wheelchair or scooter? That might make it a lot easier to get around.

I can not walk aided or unaided. My legs no longer move at the hip flexors. I have used a wheelchair for 3 years now only. I can still bear weight to transfer and go to the gym 3 times a week to keep muscle tone in my legs.

Medicare covered a large part of my electric wheelchair. I do not have a caregiver or a partner, but have some dear friends that garden for me and cook me food occasionally.

Independent living is still possible- it just takes some loving friends to pitch in occasionally and perhaps tradig free rent to a roomate for some minor help.

I have a mini van that has been converted for wheelchair use and I use hand controls to drive.
