Hi everyone! [Big Grin]

Question about testosterone levels:

I'm female and tested really low on testosterone, and my lyme doc said this was contributing to my weakness.

He thought I needed a boost and prescribed testosterone cream from a compouding pharmacy.

I've been on this cream since the Fall and if I don't put it on, I feel even weaker.

Has anyone here ever taken testosterone cream?
Is low testosterone a symptom of Lyme??

My understanding is that Lyme can wreak havoc with just about any system in the body, including the sex-steroids.

What has helped me immensely is taking Pregnenolone supplements -- it is a precursor to DHEA in the body and can also give the sex-hormones a boost. It is possible to supplement with DHEA as well, though it can have side effects. I believe a lot of Lyme folks have low DHEA and out-of-whack hormone levels as a result of this.

I've been on testosterone cream for 3 yrs now. I feel it helps with energy levels and libido for sure. My hormones were REALLY messed up since I've had Lyme for at least 48 yrs.

I'm glad you all feel better. I agree with minimonkey, if you get the progesterone levels up, everything else seems to fall into place.

Hello SAK,

I was prescribed a testosterone cream along with progesterone sublingual and DHEA.

I don't use the testosterone cream as much now as I did in the beginning because things have leveled off some. I apparently overdid it at first and felt like a teenager again which was kinda fun.

Not sure what order all this stuff happened but probably had lyme for 6-7 years, had lots of hormonal imbalances which threw me into an early menopause. Finally got diagosed for lyme and as treatment progressed, hormones leveled out.

Definitely use them if you need them and get some testing along the way if you can to evaluate if they are helping and if you need to adjust the dosage.

I've done testosterone creme for about 2 years now. My body is more fit and trim than ever! I've got wonderful biceps! The calves of my legs are nice looking. Now I'm not on any routine exercise program. I do walk and occasionally do light weight lifting.

I think the testosterone balances out all the estrogen.

I do estriol sublingual, estradiol, testosterone.

I have progesterone, but havent' used it for awhile. Have to think about getting it back out.

I'm all for them!

I take zinc supplements, and they definitely help.

You may want to get yourself a book about adrenal fatigue. Your adrenals produce your hormones. I have adrenal fatigue due to the lyme infection. Adrenal fatigue can cause all kinds of issues including extreme fatigue. I take a hormone creme daily that helps quite a bit. Most doctors, including some of the lyme literate ones, don't seem to be "aware" of this issue. I'm grateful that my lyme doc realized lyme effects many areas of our bodies. I believe that not only do we need the antibiotics but we all have to pay attention to our nutrition as well. Our bodies are so so complicated. Good luck. the cremes do work.

Thanks everyone for your comments.

I'm getting more hairy with this stuff. Hair comes out where I don't want it!

I'm rubbing the cream on my lower legs now. I figure I shave there anyway. I hope I don't end up as hairy as a man's legs.

Has anyone else had hair growth as a result of this cream? Where do y'all put it?

I was tested low for testosterone too, years ago. Insurance said they only take a test as positive that is life threatning and has to be done in hospital. Otherwise forget it, ,, so I did,, forget it.

Now for me "IF" I had that creme,I 'better' rub it on my head IF thats the result!!! My hair is regressing by the day. I gave up on it and cut it real short now.

Saw a cartoon in paper yesterday. It said "Pluggers dont give their barber a tip,,, they give them there paycheck" (Cause it is there wife!!!) cutting their hair(s).

I dont have a wife or a barber so have to wait till my daughter or my sister comes to town, they do it just fine, put on the medium attachment and just BUZZ, BUZZ, buzz. not much skill in that job!!
