Hi everyone,

I dont post often but I check posts pretty much

everyday. I was wondering if anyone who has

gotten better, even to 75 % or so, can tell me

if this is progress.

I have probably had Lyme for about 15 years but

got seriously ill about a year and a half ago.

Had off an on symptoms till this time but always

brushed those symptoms off till I got dizzy,

fatigue, serious visual problems, all the neuro

stuff. Have been on antibiotics for about a

year. When I first started the antibiotics it

was like a trin hit me. I was sick for six

straight months. Then I woke up one day

feeling a little bit better. This lasted for

maybe two days. Then I got sick for another

month and then maybe a little better for three

days.

After a few months of this it seems like I am

sick for a month and maybe 65% for 5 or six

days and maybe two days of feeling pretty darn

good. And of course I start feeling sick again

after that. I should add that the one symptom

that never goes away, it does feel better when

Im having my good days, is the visual problems.

Please let me know if this is progress, and if

its the course that any of you felt as you get

better. Also, is the whole month that I'm

sick for considered a herx? Sorry for the long

post and I hope that we are all well someday,

because we deserve it!

I have a hard time reading your post the way you broke it up. I copied it so I could read it better.

It does sound like your making progress. Everyone is different, it depends how long you were sick prior to treatment, and how many co-infections you have. If you haven't improved with years of treatment then most doctors usually treat for babs or change ABX.

I've had lyme for so long that I do expect to be well any time soon, and I am gratefull for any improvement I have at all. I really don't know what it feels like to be normal.

I hope this helps you,
Lisi

It's resonable to think that if you feel sicker on abx it's not because of drug side efffects, then the abx is doing it's job: weekening or killing the bacteria.

Hi Snapper.

Well, progress is sometimes SLOOWWWW, isn't it?

What's the status of your co-infection testing? Sometimes a co-infection can be holding you up terribly. I treated 10 months before getting a clue, then tested postitive for Babesia WA1. DUH. No wonder it was takin' me so long.

What symptoms of yours have gotten better?

As to the visual stuff that ISN'T getting better, what exactly is the problem, visually? Have you had an eye exam? Co-infections can sometimes be responsible for vision problems too, y'know...

More info!!!??

Best to you,

Michelle

Thanks for writing Michelle,

I actually found out I had Lyme because a test thru an id doc came up positive for Babesia. Ive been treating for that with Rifampin. I was also treated for Bart with Levaquin. I dont know if any symptoms have necessarily improved just that I seem to be getting days where I feel better. My visuals symptoms are floaters, blurry vision, visual trails, and light sensitivity.

Rich,

You and I are at about the same place in treatment, and there are days I wonder the same thing -- am I actually making progress here?

To me, it sounds as if you've made quite a bit of progress. I'm at about 65 to 70% after the year on antibiotics, which includes treatment for Bart.

But, like you, I've got some symptoms that still persist-- in my case, burning pain in my right thigh and numbness in my right foot. Some swelling also in that knee.

Many symptoms have completely gone and others are better. Those pesky few persist.

I see my LLMD in a week and will know more after that, I suspect. But I think we're both getting better. From what I've read in the posts, Rich, a year in Lyme time isn't that much!

Hi Snapper

Yep progress can be real slow--

But it sounds like progress to me--

I have been sick longer than you and
have been taking meds longer--

I remember the Day that the sick feeling
left me for only 2 minutes but it was the start

Now I feel perty good most of the time-
still tired -but No Pain--AAhhh

So stick to it--Take meds on time-
eat good- get rest and keep a positive
attitude and with a little luck
you will get over this--Jay--
