The previous thread talked about people with LD having problems sleeping, and sleep apnea.

Would someone please explain how Lyme would cause these problems?

Thanks [Big Grin]

I am not a Dr and thus far have refused to see if I have any of these diseases..It it overwhelming to just care for my daughter..

But many have these issues..There should be a lot of posts if you do a search..

I am sure that digestion and respiration probably are big players for the sleep apnea but the bacteria has the ability to effect any organ in the body..I would think that some of this is due to nerve damage, perhaps the vagus nerve but again I am not a Dr..

With the sleep issue, I think it may be due to depletion of necessary minerals, melatonin, etc..

Perhaps by bringing this up, more will see it and be able to give a good answer..

The doc at the sleep ctr I went to said that he felt Lyme could cause or exacerbate central apnea and hyponeas, but doubted it causes obstructive apnea.

He also thinks Lyme can cause Restless Leg and my LLMD concurs. He wanted to see sleep stufies before and after abx to compare.
