My daughter has had chapped, burning, painful lips for the past week. We have tried all the "tried and trues" that we have around our house and nothing is working

Any ideas?

I had this too. Is she on Doxy? Stay out of the Sun first thing and I use Olive oil and Vitamin Ewhen all else fails(topically). I use alot of it. Don't eat alot of acidic fruits...at least for me eating those fruits make my lips chapped. I really think all antibiotics make you Sun sensitive so make sure she is careful. I think her lips might be burnt, not just chapped. But I don't know for sure. Hope this helps.

Thank you for all your suggestions. I will try the Kiss My Face product. I'll look at our health food store for bag balm or some vitamin e product.

(Gee, that Kiss My Face website has "balm" for places I hadn't considered applying it)

My daughter hasn't been in the sun. She is almost vampirish about staying indoors and not getting exposure. The burn seems to be a medicine induced problem, because nothing I know that has worked is not working.

But, thank you for your help, it gave me some ideas!

I did order the one mentioned in the post. We'll see. I'm serious, you really have to go into that website and see some of the things...whooooo boy. Look at the ones with the black cat on the tin.

I'm a consultant with a botanically based skin care company and can get everything wholesale. I've tried all the organic balms, oils, and creams that I have. Right now the eye cream is working for her.

We're going to try straight olive oil and see if that gives relief.

She just slept 17 hours straight and woke up with red itchy bumps on her ankles. She is in taking an Aveeno bath with some baking soda in it.

I wonder if it's her body detoxing...lots of stuff comes out through the skin.

What helped me was 1-2 tablespoons of refrigerated flaxseed oil per day.

In my case, the severe chapped lips started at the end of my time on antibiotics (2 1/2 years) I believe it was related to yeast overgrowth.

ooooh. We will up the diflucan and probiotics. She takes Therelac (two capsules) every day. She stays away from sugar, and most carbs...she does have a little.

Thanks for the flaxseed oil...Will try it, too.

chapped lips can be a sign of dehydration.

Is she drindking enough water?

Coconut oil can work also for chapped lips. [Smile]

make sure to talk over everything first with your LLMD
