Started a new regiment of abt to treat the lyme and co's. Day 1: must be a herx, pain and fatigue are much worse. Anyone else have this combination of reactions? Could hardly get out of bed and wash and dress today.

Skater,
Just a friendly note...usually we refer to antibiotics as ABX....

Anyway...you may be in the middle of your normal cycle with this bug so that's why you herxed so quickly on the new abx....or the fact that it was resistant to the last one you were taking and now

it is not to the new one....thus a great killoff...

Hang in there......just make sure it's not an allergic reaction to the new med...

Read your literature that comes with the skript and call your pharmacist or doctor if something does'nt seem quite right.

good luck.........zman

Sorry, iceskater, it sounds awful and a powerful reaction.

Pain and fatigue wouldn't be an unusual response, for me, to a new ABX.

It's possible like Tony said this is the right meds hitting the right place and time to make you miserable.

Is it possible that the starting dose is too high?

that all being said... I usually get some reaction off the first dose of a new med.

Additionally, when I added Ketek to my Babs treatment (at a half dose) I hit my "max herx tolerability level" on the second day.

I called the doctor's office flipping out. That was the worst of it, the next day was completely bearable.

I don't know if any of that helps maybe see how the day goes and decide if there are adjustments that need making.

I hope it lightens up soon. [group hug]

Glad you're feeling better today...

If your cycle is like mine you hit the end of your chetes vulnerability...
Watch out again in about 28 days...
Or the next time you switch abx's...

It should be a less severe herx the next time but that would of course depend on how many you killed off this go round...sounds like a lot...

which as Martha says "it's a good thing"...
yes I'm in touch with my female side...LOL

zman(leave me alone you guys)!
