How are our Nerve Cells Damaged by Mercury?

Mercury from amalgams or other sources accumulates in the nerve cells. It attaches to the tubulin, inside the nerves, in the area where order transmission (neurotransmission) takes place. There it reduces the nerve's ability to transmit.

As a consequence, the nerve can no longer satisfactorily take up nutrients, neurotransmitters, and transmit its orders/messages. It eventually dies.

Mercury also is destroying the myelin sheeth surrounding the nerves.

It is known that mercury hinders the uptake of amino acids and excretion of metabolic waste and toxins - in and out of the brain - and that leads to reduced uptake of energy as well as causing leaking in the capillary walls. We become toxic and functions are disrupted.

People who are mercury toxic also absorb other environmental toxins more readily, because the mercury causes the cells not to be ``tight'' letting other heavy metals, pesticides and formaldehyde enter the cells readily. We become more toxic and more dysfunctional.

Toxin accumulation is 30 to 100 times higher than in people without amalgams and the toxic effects are potentiated up to 2000 times.

(I translated this from a German publication by Dr. K. - if it sounds a little stiff, I tried to stick closely to the German text) Pretty grim picture.

Take care.

GiGi,

Thanks for the info.

My daughter's LLMD has requested that we have all of the almalgam fillings in her teeth removed.

I'm doing all the research that I can so that we may choose the right dentist to do the work.

I appreciate all the data you've provided in previous posts and I'm continuing to read through them all now.

She is having her blood tested for mercury and other metals. We'll know the results on Thursday of this week.

I just wanted to say thank you for your willingness to share your knowledge and research with the rest of us.

GiGi, does Dr. K have insight on whether peripheral nerves damaged by Hg can regenerate upon chelation?

What about HG damaged CNS nerves?

Lymedad, please note in most of my posts I told that a blood testis not conclusive for heavy metal toxicity. Mercury or other metals do not "live" in the blood. They are settled somewhere in the body, in some body compartment, mostly the brain, and only occasionally are testable in the blood.

A hair analysis that shows no metals when a person has amalgams is one indication that he/she is not able to release them into the blood and out of some via the hair. The mineral picture that you get with a hair test is also an indication where the problem is - as long as your doctor understands to interpret the mineral picture properly.

A challenge test is a better choice, but if the person is mineral deficient, they are even then unable to release the mercury.

Learn all you can and find a good doctor that knows how to help with the detoxing the right way. It's worth every penny to get the right person to do that. Very few doctors know how to do it properly.

Take care.

Foggy, I am late for evening entertainment with my husband. But, yes we grow new dentrites - and nerves can regenerate if given the right stuff. Dentrites -- that's been known for several years now. I was left-side paralyzed, top of head to hip penetrating already into feet. I also was totally without any feeling down my spine. I literally got hundreds of Neural Therapy punctures there and never felt any - until one fine day, many months later, I started to pull away when he came with the needle. But as you can tell, I am perfectly well again. But you have got to do it right with the help of a knowledgable doctor. Most doctors can come up with a abx protocol - this is a little more difficult.

It's the best money you will ever spend for the rest of your life if you get the metals out.

Take care again.

Gigi, and all others who share, do you know of a directory of qualified dentists, and then practitioners, who will help with the process of removing heavy metals?

We live in NC. My husband has a mouthful of fillings and has had Lyme for about 15 years though he was only diagnosed last year.

My daughter is a teenager and has had Lyme for over 4 years. She has never needed dental work beyond routine cleanings, so she would not need to start with a dentist but get on to the diagnosis and removal of metals and toxins.

If anyone has any referrals they can pass on to me I would really appreciate it.

From all the information I am reading I know this is very important, but I do not know where to start or who to trust to do this work correctly. From what I gather, if not done correctly, it could make things worse.

Thanks, and Gigi, thank you again for all the time and energy you spend on LymeNet. Bobby

i just stumbled upon this in pubmed.

getting Hg out with chinese parsley (cilantro) dha, epa.

Acupunct Electrother Res. 1996 Apr-Jun;21(2):133-60.
Such mercury contamination may then contribute to intractable infections or pre-cancer. However, these mercury deposits, which commonly occur in such cases, were successfully eliminated by the oral intake of 100 mg tablet of Chinese parsley (Cilantro) 4 times a day (for average weight adults) with a number of drug-uptake enhancement methods developed by the 1st author, including different stimulation methods on the accurate organ representation areas of the hands (which have been mapped using the Bi-Digital O-Ring Test), without injections of chelating agents. Ingestion of Chinese parsley, accompanied by drug-uptake enhancement methods, was initiated before the amalgam removal procedure and continued for about 2 to 3 weeks afterwards, and ECGs became almost normal. During the use of strong bluish curing light to create a photo-polymerization reaction to solidify the synthetic filling material, the adjacent gingiva and the side of the tongue were inadvertently exposed.
This exposure to the strong bluish light was found to produce pre-cancerous conditions in the gingiva, the exposed areas of the tongue, as well as in the corresponding organs represented on those areas of the tongue, and abnormally increased enzyme levels in the liver.
These abnormalities were also successfully reversed by the oral intake of a mixture of EPA with DHA and Chinese parsley, augmented by one of the non-invasive drug-uptake enhancement methods previously described by the 1st author, repeated 4 times each day for 2 weeks. PMID: 8914687

caveat on gallstones, and cilantro. this is not related to the abstract below:
while i don't know how many kinds of cilantro there are, if there is more than one, i once read about cilantro causing the gallbladder to contract.

if one has gallstone(s) large enough NOT to pass when doing a gallbladder flush, and the gallbladder contracts vigourously, the stone(s) can get stuck in the common bile, and other ducts. then one is deep in doo-doo.

the large stone will have to be shrunken.
back later with link on how this is done, as i need to do this myself. (one large stone dx'd by ultra sound of rt. kidney, so i really don't know what this is in my gallbladder). until i shrink the stone, if shrinkable, i won't do cilantro.

Thanks again, GiGi. My husband finally finished the last quadrant in his amalgam removal.

His chinese herbal doctor has him on all sorts of herbs - detox and otherwise. His doctor says he is improving, but his pain remains and has spread to other areas.

We will probably try to find someone to add to his regime for detox. [Smile]
