has anyone ever tried Reishi Mushroom supplements? The Reishi mushroom is suppose to boost the immune system and bodies own killer cells.

I have taken Host Defense by New Chapter with good results. It is a combination of mushrooms including reishi. This builds over time, maybe 1-2 months so results are not instantaneous.

It is on the pricey side. I don't take it anymore for that reason.

Per the Burrascano protocol I began my first treatment protocol with reishimax and cordymax from Pharmanex. I credit cordyceps with saving me enough to use this excellent site to build a recovery.

When I began the cordyceps I was so ill dying seemed a relief. It was cordyceps and this site that gave me the stregnth to go on.

Im bringing this up because Ive had a positive experience with "host defense" today

Ill make it short. Its christmass I ate lots of sugar. I usually have intense burning pains and brain swelling.

I took host defense three times out of the same cap today, equalling 1 cap.

I had no burning and my head was clearer, less foggy and I had more energy. GO FIGURE>

Tomarrow its back on my diet.

God bless the makers of host defense, a wonderfull product. I am trully gratefull and am determined to have the knowledge and healing power in these mushrooms bring me health and healing.

Scratch that, ultimate health and an abundant happy exciting life~!

be well

Do the immune stimulating effects of reishi and cordyceps cause auto-immune problems?

I kno Buhner is hesitant to use strong immune stimulating herbs (astragalus) in chronic lyme because it may cause auto immune issues.

Wasn't sure the mechanics behind the mushrooms.

Im glad you dug this post up. I bought an immune booster and it has 3 kinds of mushroom extract in it. I took it for one day and started herxing. So im going to wait till school starts again...which is tomorrow. Im curious to know if it causes autoimmune issues as well. Dont want to open THAT can of worms up again!

Reishi & Shi-take. My LLMD recommended trying both.
I never did try anything other than a mushroom mix, in capsule form, from a naturopathic shop-
MycoMedicinals 'Host Defense'.
Has about 18 "shroom" species in a blend.
Used it for a while. Not sure if it ever helped.
I'd like to find some fresh Reishi, though.
I hear the spores are potent for boosting the immune system's killer cells. (CD-57, et al.)

Cordyceps is really, really good. I also liked Host Defense by New Chapter, but now there is a different name for them and a different owner. And yeah, Host Defense is pretty expensive, unfortunately.
