I have been having some constant eye pain over the last few weeks. I was wondering if anyone has been diagnosed with optic neuritis.
Can you share what your symptoms are/were and what was the treatment?
thanks

Yes, I had posterior uveitis and optic neuritis for over 10 years.

Symptoms of Uveitis are sensitivity to light, stabbing eye pain - pain in the muscles to move the eyes up, down, left and right - immune cells in the vitreous humor - (the slit test at the Opthalmologist measure the severity) blood shot eyes, halo's around lights at night.

Optic neuritis: either cloudy central or peripheral vision - colored or white explosions within the visual field - loss of color preception (especially red) disturbances oss loss of part of the visual field.

Treatment was mono then combo therpay for Lyme (mostly the tetracycline and pennicillin family of abx). Eye problems resolved after therapy.

You need to be sure your LLMD understands these eye problems- and that you back off abx if they become worse - wait to resume the abx till eye symptoms quiet down if they get worse.-

One of the leading symptoms my daughter had with Lyme - on seton and on most of her fallbacks - was optic neuritis. Symptoms were loss of vision acuity - from 1,0 down to 0,1 on one or both eyes, lenses gave no correction. Also loss of peripheral vision - so called "tunnel vision", she saw only what you would see through a tube in front of your eyes. Testing visual evoked potentials showed marked disturbances. Optic neuritis was not treated separately, but resolved with Lyme treatment. Rocephine worked very fast and good, but she developed an allergy and then had another fallback. What seems to have worked best was Minocycline /100 mg 2 times daily over 4-5 weeks, then 2 weeks rest, then again/. She also took a lot of other supplementary stuff and it is difficult to say what worked/helped in which way, but I think that drugs increasing blood supply to brain/optic nerve will have been important, Coenzyme Q10 and Ginkgo Biloba possibly also contributed.

I have trouble with my eyes related to lyme. I also have much tension in my muscles--myofascial pain syndrome. Sometimes pulling or tension in my muscles/fascia can cause eye pain. Right now, having pain/pulling near my shoulder blade, emanates up to neck, then jaw, then the muscles below and above the eyes--feels like the muscles that allow me to move eyes are also involved. This is at least part of the problem for me. Blessings. J

I developed eye pain and focusing problems in August. In September I started drinking Ultra mangosteen juice and the eye problems cleared up in 24 hours.

My dark glasses also came off for the first time in two decades. I drank a little bit every couple hours, with a lot of water. The juice still keeps my eye symptoms away.

Brands are in healthfood stores, online and also there's a strong multilevel marketed brand.
