I do not see any reference to herbs for the cystic form in Buhner's protocol? Or am I missing this?
Thanks again.

Buhner doesn't spell it out, but my guess is that andrographis is meant for cysts since it's antiparasitic (and he talks about it in terms of the parasitic properties of Bb, life cycle etc). The cyst busters are mostly antiparasitic/antimalarial drugs - flagyl, tini, plaquenil,...?

Thats a good question. I always wondered myself. I would agree with Idfighter that the andrographis would be my guess too.
Along with my rife and limited herbs I have been pulsing in grapefruit seed extract in the last week of every month. I do herx from it & have read it is possible to hit the cysts with this. Weather or not it really the GSE or the additives in it. I do get the head pressure & other familar herxing symptoms similar to tinni-although I can't be sure what it hitting.
A LLMD at the last lyme conference doctor said it may hit the cystic form. I think they need more research on herbs or supps that go after the cystis form. I will not be holding my breath on this

If there's no money in it, it won't be researched.

Dana - I hope you mean GRAPEFRUIT seed extract for the cysts? I was pondering that as well, but still am uncertain as to whether grapefruit seed would be ok with meds given the reduced clearance with the grapefruit itself.
Thanks guys for your responses... any more ideas are always welcomed!

yes-sorry I did mean grapefuit seed extract.
Thanks for catching that. I did go back & edit

Buhner's advice column on Planet Thrive gives 2 somewhat conflicting answers to the cyst question.
Read the responses dated October 9, 2006 and December 17, 2006.

Bea,
Interesting site. It talks about a veterinarian who prescribes ledum as a remedy for animals and suggests it works in humans. Has anyone tried it and if so where did you buy and how did it work for you? Hiker53

Great find bea thanks so much

I agree! Thanks Bea. It oddly resembles my LLMDs approach to the cysts with my treatment. I am not sure what to make of it, but am somewhat inclined to agree. Or disagree. Or agree. Who knows, but I certainly will ponder and experiment

The truth is : There are MANY strains of lyme , babesia , and bartonella.
We honestly never know WHICH strain(S) we have , and we may not know for sure that all of these pathogens become cystic.
It is hard for me to understand why some here are dogmatic about being on ANY certain protocol, BECAUSE all treatment is HIT OR MISS and THERE ARE SIMPLY NO EXPERTS no matter how much $$ you spend or how many years you swallow countless antibiotics .

sorry luvsdogs to get temp of your thread topic for a moment-
Agree. There are many strains. That's why if you start on an abx or herb & it's not working for you the LLMD or herbal practitioner will change around the treatment till he or she finds something that does work for your particular strain. What works for one doesn't work for all.
If you go to a doc & he puts you on say something like rochephin for a certain amount of time & it doesn't work completely & says your cured & or it must be something else. Run like heck to another doc because he's not up on the lastest science.
There is no question there are lyme cystic forms.
There are some photos as countless photos have been found and tons of scientific research as well.
