Hi all,

I just watched the Al Gore movie, An Inconvenient Truth. In it he presents data that shows temperatures are going up; for instance, 2005 was the hottest year on record, and I heard on the radio that 2007 will surpass it.

The movie has a slide showing that a number of vectors, including ticks and mosquitoes, have longer breeding seasons now because of global warming.

I'm wondering whether global warming has ever been posited as a reason the for the rise in incidence of Lyme disease.

It's something to think about.

One of many I suspect including:

1) Man overtaking the environment with buildings, etc.
2) The increase in deer population
3) Man-made strains / created superbugs
4) Global warming

and others...

Al Gore and his crew did an amazing job of filming and illustrating the show! I can't say enough about "An Inconvenient Truth." It is a must-see for all mankind. If only a show on Lyme could be as interesting and informative?

I keep flashing on the show's view of some city which was located up the side of a mountain so it would be above the mosquitoe-infested warmer area below (most likely because of malaria). Now the warmer temperatures have propelled the mosquitoes and the risk of malaria up the mountainside.

Lyme disease and other diseases are mentioned in the show as greater hazards because of global warming. I believe global warming is an important reason for the spread of Lyme and other problems and we've yet to feel and understand everything connected; when we do, it might be too late (forever).

In my area the local news stated that because of the unusually warm winter we are having; it is important to check yourself for ticks because of Lyme Disease.

I couldn't believe it.

Yes...an amazing and very frightening movie...if only a little of what he presents is true!

Bb alters its protein coat in response to temperature, pH, and CO2 levels.

Logic would say...this isn't good.
