Hi,

I'm looking to hear from anyone in South Jersey who had/has Rocky Mountian Spotted Fever.

How are you doing what medicine did you take and how long?

My sister has the rash big time. I'm getting her to a LLMD near her in S. Jersey...........

Heather...I'm from south jersey. Recently a co-worker told me she had RMSF & as far as I know she made out pretty good with it. Tomorrow I'll ask her what she took & for how long. So look for my post back here about this time tomorrow night.

Heather, we are in SE Pa and two of us have tested positive for RMSF. Tetra/doxy seem to knock it out. Our llmd started testing everyone for it and has found well over 100 cases in about 18 months. We had already been on tetra so our test results showed up as a past infection.

IV Rochpen does not treat RMSF. This could amount for my failure to get well on IV. My first llmd didn't think to test for RMSF in 2001 and even our second llmd didn't understand to test for RMSF until 2003.

Heather,

Back in 2000 this was one of my many presentations, the classic RMSF rash to the lower extremities..

The docs could not figure out what it was [bonk] Despite my bringing along a photo that I downloaded and printed out!

I lived in Morris County, NJ

Best regards,

Julia

Heather...I talked to the girl at work that had RMSF. She said she took erythromycin from her regular MD. She took it for 6 wks. She said this is what worked for her.

Hope this helps.

A colleague of mine was diagnosed with breast cancer late 2005. Chemo is bad alone, but she was in incredible pain, had a very high fever, and going downhill. She had to be admitted to the hospital and the rash showed up all over her body. They diagnosed it quickly, luckily, as RMSF. An ID doctor who treated her was so ecstatic to have his very first case, he practically never left her bedside. She's doing fine now, RMSF-wise. BTW, they also said she had Lyme !!! She lives in Hunterdon County, NJ. I don't think she would know what she was treated with. Just thought I'd share this story.

Hope your sister is doing well Heather !
