kinda need to know. should i just give up on this doctor if he has deflected that option everytime i have seen him?
i would go straight to columbia, but they are only taking appts for APRIL (ugh.), and that pretty much involves saying goodbye to my life's savings.
i am about to be evicted from my residence due to my inability to clean it. having all of my belongings forcibly removed and thrown out is not something i can deal with. i have brought this up with doctors repeatedly and yet it continues to clearly mean nothing to them. how am i not saying things right? due to my thinking blocks, i am very automatic and do not articulate, leaving an illusion of 'well'. but i think my doctors are aware of this and just plain using it as an excuse. i've had it.
i have three modes. talkative complacent. pan between fragmented to mute. and rage.
two that are easy to ignore. and one that could just get the door slammed on me. i guess the only option is columbia? and even then i have to wait until april.
i am calling my doctor's office again. i expect failure. there really has to be a better solution.
we have disabled minds, and yet we are supposed to navigate our cures ourselves? is that anything other than some cruel rand-fetishist's libertarian fantasy? the only one's who deserve effective treatment are the ones who defeat ridiculous odds?

But that doesn't seem like a very good thing to do. If you have a Lyme competent doctor it is good to listen to them!!!!!!!!! You are NOT supposed to navigate your own care- your doc is if they are a good doc!!! Yes, you are supposed to be first mate, but still!!! Orals are always tried first because IV has risks- death for ex!! And it takes a looooong time almost all the time to get better with Lyme. It is rare when people get better quickly in my experience.
I *do* know one guy in our local group though who had your desire for IV PLUS depresson and suicidality- and he simply said, "Doc, if you don't put me on IV I am going to kill myself."
It worked.

Don't know if you are seeing Canadian or U.S. doc. In either case, there are alternatives besides Columbia. Think they are basically doing research, not sure what the treatment situation is. And the reason your doc is trying to avoid IV may also be political. This is the hardest to get prescribed because it is expensive and is most likely to bring authorities down on a doc's neck, regardless of the state of health of the patient.
Sometimes only IV works, but sometimes it is a matter of finding the right combination of orals. One drug alone is hardly ever going to cut it. Has your doc considered coinfections?

The second thing is iv if you really need it I have never done it but I would if I couldnt get any stomach problems from orals under control. Which thank God all I ever had to do was cut sweets and use lots of acidophilis and yogurt. I hope this can help.

i am neuro/psych/cog, it does not seem to be helped reliably by anything else. i don't have years to try oral combo after oral combo, i need a drug that will help me continue to be able to even take the medication. it seems that rocephin is the most likely, and columbia findings comparing oral to iv show this.
