Those of you who take Caprylic acid, would you share your knowledge?

Who told you/how did you learn about it?

What dose?

What type/brand - is there a right or wrong kind?

Did it work alone or in combo. for yeast?

What else is it used for?

I had never heard of it until recently: would like to know more.

Thank you!

I've taken it before for yeast. I used Nature's Sunshine brand.

Google it, ESG! I'm sure you'll find plenty on it.

Maybe this will help too if you have yeast:

Candida diet and elimination:

http://www.wholeapproach.com/diet/
Lyme symptoms list compared with yeast symptoms
http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/Forum1/HTML/021202.html

"Successful control and elminiation of a Candida Albicans overgrowth requires a multifaceted program as described below. Failure to follow ALL the steps simultaneously will result in slow progress and will lengthen healing time significantly. The program should be tailored to the individual and must balance the need to eliminate the Candida and deprive it of its food source while insuring proper nutrition for the individual."

Five Steps to Candida Elimination:

1. You must starve it into submission by eliminating its food source.

2. You must kill it with anti-fungal herbs and supplements.
[e.g....garlic, onion, caprylic acid, Pau D'Arco capsules or tea, clove, grapefruit seed extract, olive leaf extract, oil of oregano, tea tree oil, Echinacea, Goldenseal, black walnut, MSM, barberry root, uva ursi, neem leaf, biotin]

3. You must reestablish the proper balance and quantity of probiotic bacteria in the digestive tract. [...multi-strain lactobacillus acidophilus and bifidus capsules with FOS should be taken between meals to maximize repopulation of the digestive tract by beneficial bacteria.]

4. You must reestablish proper levels of all B vitamins (yeast free) and utilize other immune enhancing supplements to boost immune system function. [e.g ... B complex vitamins (yeast free), biotin, beta 1-3 glucan, colostrum, maitake mushroom, vitamins A, C, E, zinc and selenium]

5. You must cleanse and heal the digestive tract to promote proper elimination of toxins and Candida and assimilation of nutrients. [e.g...chlorophyll, MSM, omega 3 fatty acids found in flax seed and salmon oils, GLA found in borage, evening primrose and black currant oils. Pantothenic acid, digestive enzymes between meals]

thanks - I had already printed out Lymetoo's wonderful Candida treatment steps to use a guideline, checked the web sites, & that is where I first noticed capryilic acid & I did spend an evening googling it. [Smile]

Just wanted to know if anyone had more to say on it.

Thats an excellent list of herbal treatments.

I also use this combo product:

http://store.nationalsupplementcenter.com/slr8132.html
and oregano oil and garlic juice, and it all helps somewhat, though it's taken MONTHS after ceasing antibiotics to see any relief.

I've been taking Caprylic acid for 3 years now. When I first started taking it, I was so nausious! I learned then to take it at night before I went to bed with a big glass of water so I didn't feel the effects from it.

I don't get those side effects now from it.... (Well I did recently when I took coconut oil, but it was alot!) Caprylic acid comes from coconut btw.

I works well on yeast but I have heard (and can't seem to find it anywhere now but.... ) that you have to pulse it so the yeast does not build up a resistence to it. (not sure this is exactly accurate, but this is what I have heard)

I have the Solaray plain Caprylic ... should have looked further and found Solaray's Yeast-Cleanse!

Do we just have to learn to live with some degree of yeast while on ABX? We cannot totally eradicate yeast, perhaps, but try to keep it under control?

I just got some today and I must say it works.

It is definitely doing something.

After I took it about 15 minutes later I got a weird dizzy feeling and then my head cleared a little. Now my skin feels cooler too.

This is how I usually feel after a herx from antibiotics or cats claw. This is a GOOD sign.

I hope to really know down this yeast. Diflucan SUCKS.... It makes me feel so sick and toxic.

I dont like how the diflucan works on the yeast by inhibiting the action of cytochrome p-450, an enzyme that we use to detoxify with.

Diflucan isint for me. Oil of oregano did NOTHING but repeat on me.

This Caprylic Acid is the real deal.

Im also gonna try to take it with psylium husk as I read that this helps.

Thanks everyone.
Wish me luck!

Caprylic acid for me is one of the best things I have used to keep my yeast down. I put 2 table spoons in about 6oz of water with 2 table spoons of benonite clay 2 teaspoons of phsyliam powder and teaspoon of probiotics, shake is all up and drink it down. When I first started there was a lot of yeast die off and I could tell it was working when the fog cleared from my head.

I never have an issue with being constipated. but I also drink a lot of ESIAC tea which is also great for helping the liver converting toxins to water soluable subtances and helps the GI tract keep flowing. Basic elements of this tea is Burdock root, sheep sorrel, slippery elm, turkish rhubarb.

Well I definitelly feel a herx from it today.

Very tired and I have some neuropathy coming back.

I gonna still take it though.

So far im handeling it better then the doxy and zith and diflucan.

The diflucan made me SICK AS A DOG

Horrible metal taste and toxic toxic feeling. It cant be good. I dont attribute it to a herx either, just it reducing my detox abilities.

herx herx herx

Uhh ,,, Ive been loading on Caprylic acid the last 2 days and it must be working cause I feel like crap.

Been eating broccoli, greens and psylium with lots of water to try and flush.

Uh,,,, Im just very sore and tired. My legs and feet also hurt like Id been running.

Been getting the sweats and chills too!

This MUST be good.

You don't have to overdo it- remember your body has to deal with the die off. Just keep the caprylic part of your program. I only use 2 table spoon every other day now and it keeps the yeast away.

Hi ESG,

Tincup told me about it and I finally got up enough nerve to try it. The first kind I bought was the Nature's Sunshine brand, very good one. I love Caprylic Acid, it worked great for me.

The one I had also had Walnuts hulls in it, so I believe it also helped with parasites. I sarted off with a smaller dosage and tried to work my way up and not herx too bad. I did run fevers taking it though.

I still take Caprylic Acid today, almost 6 years later and it really does work.

You do have to pulse it on and off or the yeast becomes resistant, but if you want a document that says so.. you have to ask Tincup, cuz she is one that taught me that.

Well, Im finnally feeling positive effects after 2 days!!! what a treat!

My chemical sensitivites, (knock on wood) have imroved 5% and my skin feels cooler and less painfull. Also my brain swelling fog is shifting

The broccoli and psylium and almonds did the trick!!!!!!

Yup. Its yeast!

I took my caprylic acid this morning with psyllium and now I cant move.

Im very stiff, tired, and my feet are killing me.

I guess this means these are the symptoms that the yeast were causing.

Only thing I had today was greek yogurt and some hummus. Dont think its really the diet. Not this EXTREME weakness
