has any one taken this "Biaxin" for bartonella--

i opted to take this because I feel worse than
I did at the very beginning of this lyme dea.

when i say worse, I am referring to a cloudy feeling in my head. Headaches are worse- it feels like the arteries in my brain are in spasm.

I am getting to the point where I can not function, driving, cooking and living. I may have to check in to a skilled nursing facility.

My LLMD - suggested Biaxin followed by --Plaquenil in two weeks with a slew of herbs - mostly buhner protocol.

The Biaxin ) several doses -makes me sick- well just about passed out --nausea- nothing stays in me.

I am in a real mess

any ideas?

What were you on before the Biaxin?

I had a course of Biaxin for Bart, but my sx were that after feeling better in general, my feet were still killing me, in fact getting worse. My LLNP said this could have been due to non-serologic Bart. After about 4 mos of Biaxin, my feet don't hurt anymore...so it seems she was correct.

No I have not been on Biaxin before - started it today.

My feet hurt and my head hurts constantly.

glad to hear your better with this

Wow Mags, this sounds very distressing! I sure hope you are doing better soon... I took Biaxin once about ten years ago for a sinus infection (I didn't know about the TBIs.) I felt so totally weird. Mental/buzzy/nausea/etc. I think I only managed to take one or two before I had them change the Rx to something else. I put it on my list of drug allergies. Now I would think maybe it was a herx!

wow ruth what a terrible thing to go
- and you have been fighting this for 10 years +

- Within a several hours after my doses, I had those wierd sensation - it did not feel like the usual herx for me.

i wll try my third dose today and if I have the same reaction - forget the biaxin.

Hi guys,
I was wondering how much Biaxin are you taking?
I'm on 250x2 breakfast and supper but I'm not sure it's enough because it hasn't given me a herx...does the dosage depend on your weight?

I started biaxin a month ago and found myself sliding back into bart world. For me this drug is doing absolutely nothing but giving me heart palps.
I hope you have better results.

Hi,

I was on Biaxin but I was also taking it concurrently with Bactrim. I took them together for several months and it really seemed to help with my Bart. I had a negative Bart titer at the end, which was promising.

Hi. I took Biaxin for several months, along with Doxy. Never had any serious stomach upset on it though I always took it with food. Can it be a sensitivity you have to this particular class of abx? or perhaps some kind of sensitivity to the dye or some other added ingredient? any possibility a switch to another formula or class of abx would help? have you taken probiotics with it?
BTW i came up negative for bart, only positive for lyme.

but after yesterday's nightmare

Is there a reason you and your LLMD chose Biaxin instead of Levaquin or Rifampin for Bart? I'm curious because my Bart seems to be worse than my Lyme, I bombed out on Levaquin because of my tendons. Now I'm on Rifampin, ramping up slowly, and it's very difficult.

I'm sorry you are suffering. I think Bart is really, really challenging.

I have the head spasms, too - and a slew of scary symptoms and herxes.

Yo... my favorite dish rag...

You can either continue the Biaxin.. or come here and sit on my prickly cactus plant. Your choice. Which ever makes you feel better.

The point is.. don't keep torturing yourself... PLEASE!!! If it ain't getting it.. don't suffer or make it so you can't function.. ok?

Ask your doc if there is something else to use. I am not able to do Biaxin either.. but other meds have worked. I also got the buzzed feelings and got to the point where I was worried I would have another severe allergic reaction.. as lips, face, and ears were going numb and my tongue was swelling.

Do be careful. But don't give up on the antibiotics totally.. ok. Just know some of them fit better on certain folks.. and others do better with another medication.

Hope you feel better soon.. little baboon!

I took Biaxin(or)Zithromax plus Levaquin(or)Cipro for bartonella.

The cactus may be a good distraction for me and give me something constructive to do - pulling out all those needles from my skin - must be an aloe vera cactus --good for the tummy --- right ?

I did my two doses - biaxin and I are no longer friends - ---the dish rag culprit.
Feel better about stopping it

So I am back to the herbs (buhner+)- but now doing it right - instead of when I feel like it
