All I see are a bunch of lines that have either

KDA IGG
KDA IGM

When I go to the corresponding letter, it says negative.

Am I reading this right?

That is a negative test. Band 41 can be from other bacteria with a flagella, but there aren't many.

Lyme is a clinical diagnosis though. The longer you have it, the more likely you are to have a negative test.

I don't know how accurate Quest is either.

I don't know how long I have had it for, but I wouldn't think it would date back any further than the summertime, because that's when we were taking walks in parks all the time.

My symptoms started in November, but I had some chest burning and discomfort in September. I also miscarried in my 5th week of pregnancy in the beginning of September.

I don't know if that would be considered early or late stage Lyme, because I know some people have it for years and never know, so I would think mine would be early.

This is a Quest test.

Therefore, you haven't actually been tested.

Notice the glaring absence of bands 31 and 34 -- good thing they're not too important, huh? Only two of the most specific bands there are for lyme.

PLEASE get an IGeneX test.

Robin, there's probably no way to tell when you got it. I got symptoms for the first time 10 years after exposure! That was in 1982, obviously I wasn't treated back then.

I had another flare-up in 1986 and 1991. It went back into remission in 91 after I had my amalgams out and went on an anti-candida diet.

It came back in 2003 due to stress. All flare-ups were due to unusual stress.

I tell my story because maybe you've had it for a longer time than you think and are only now showing symptoms. You'll need a good LLMD to determine what stage you're in.

I second the IGeneX suggestion.

I "third" the Igenex suggestion [Wink] -- find a LLMD who will have your bloodwork done at Igenex, NOT Quest!!!

A lab specializing in borreliosis (such as Igenex) will test bands that Quest won't, such as 31 and 34 kiloDaltons. Quest doesn't look at 31 kDa OR 34 kDa, even though they're both species-specific for Bb.

The problem is not your test results, but it would appear that you have the wrong doctor :-)

Dear Robin,

I didn't know anything really about Lyme disease when I finally found a duck to do a WB on me.

Quest dx. I suppose I was extremely lucky that Igm band 23 showed up as positive.

I then found Lymenet.

My neighbor had a WB done at LabCorp. Completely negative.

I told him to use Igenex.....but....

He met 5 members from the same family in my LLMD's office (his wife has Lyme also).

They told him that they had all been tested negative through Quest and LabCorp.

They were all positive via Igenex.

He came home with an Igenex test kit.

He is a RN.

Please have your test done through Igenex.

I just sent my husband's blood for WB at Igenex this week.

Hugs,

Geneal

I had testing done out the yingyang, including Quest.

Wasn't until I got it sent to Igenex that I was positive.

I have all, and I mean all, the symptoms of lyme.

Igenex Lab.

You can contact them and see if there is a doctor near you who uses them for testing.
