Upon the advice of JimBob and Carol, I purchased a salt pipe, which is really a salt inhaler .
The salt grains are halite crystals from European salt caves , discovered because the salt mine workers did not get T.B. or the lung diseases that were prevalent many years ago .
I have had a battle with chest & sinus congestion and ear problems ( probably due to mycoplasma PN ) , but this truly is working !
JimBob said it helped him give up his inhaler ( asthma) and others here said it helped them .
I am no longer having chest soreness that feels like pleurisy .
I also think it is really worth trying for costochondritis , as I had it and now it is gone.
If you want more info : Google: "saltpipeco.uk"
It is a cisca salt pipe .
I am thankful for the folks here who take the time to share info about things that help them .

thank you for posting. just a question although I should just google it, but does it help with allergies?

Ann, that's great!
My mom refused this, even though she had pneumonia last summer, which the antibiotic that her doc prescribed did not help. She's still having problems with a cough.
I'm thinking of ordering one, paying for it, and having it sent to her. (Heh, she'll kill me.)

I don't know if it would be an allergy fixer , but I do believe it will help prevent the secondary infections that allergies bring - definitely . It thins mucous and seems to help my ears and sinuses not feel so plugged up .
It is great for bronchitis .
As far as allergies , I have had good success with Beconase during allergy season, but I was still struggling with constantly feeling I was fighting bronchial infection and having thick mucous . This has been a real blessing for me because I was living on mucinex 24/7 . I have not taken any mucinex in over a week , which is a miracle for me.

Annxyz,
Thanks for bringing this up and reminding me about my saltpipe. I purchased one and keep it in the drawer by my bed where I completely forget about it.
My allergies have been under control for years but I do have a morning cough that happens about 1 to 2 hrs after I wake up and lasts about 15 mins. During this time I cough up disgusting amounts of phlem. The only time I was free of this was several years ago in Midrid, Spain. This was before my latest onset of lyme. I never understood what was different about Spain.
I'm going to get that pipe out tonight and inhale, inhale, inhale.
