I have been hearing "weird noises" at night when I get up to use the bathroom for about 7 years or so. When I got my Lyme Diagnosis I figured it was due to the neurotoxins (I only got one answer correct on the vision test).

I've been using Jernigan's Antitox CNS/PNS for about six weeks now, and for the first few weeks the noises seemed to vanish. Now, the past few days not only do I hear it at night but during the day, too.

They seem to sort of "pulse" with my heartbeat. Does anyone anyone else have this problem or know what it may be?

What are the opinons on the Jernigans Antitox? I am on antibitotics but tried just this on Jernigan product with my LLMD's approval.

sorry, don't know about hearing things...I smell odd odors. Example....got a brand new van...smell a skunk not "new car smell". Husband thinks I'm weird.

Also I can smell dust in my house...I vaccumm everyday. Had my sister come over to help dust/wash things. Couldn't/can't stand the smell.

Hello mojo,

I am so glad you ask this and I can't wait to hear the response.

For the last year or so I hear, usually when I sit or stand, this shook shook shook noise, as if it "pulses" with my heart beat.

I figured that since lyme thickens our blood, even though I take an 81 mg. aspirin daily it might still be thick.

I do not hear it all the time though, so I don't know about this theory. Like you say, mostly at night going to bathroom.

dmc,

I was just about to make a new topic on this to see if anyone else had this odd symptom and if they knew why.

This is great isn't it?

I no longer suffer this symptom, but I recall it very well.

I could not stand smells, they were magnified many times over. Even the spices in the cabinet would gag me.

I was also blessed with taste, the same way. Everything was either too salty, too sweet, too hot. I could not eat anything. I could not chew and swallow it. I lost 40 lbs. in five months.

This was awful, I told my LLMD when I finally got one, he did not comment nor did he seem surprised.

It went away, I don't know what it was unless it was toxins. Unless this is part of Bells Palsey, which I had at that time.

Anyway,I'll be glad to hear about both things.

Keep asking, keep learning, the MDs couldn't tell me anything and I think they really didn't believe me.

Praying for our recovery,

sherry

If I had to guess, since I have experienced this when sick, is that either your ear canals are stuffed up or something in or near your ears is slightly swollen (perhaps the glands near the ear). You are hearing your own pulse. Mine was like a slow kinda woosh, woosh.

Make sure your doctor is aware of it, and get checked for hearing loss. (I have a mild, Lyme-related hearing loss -- please get checked.) If there is a problem, your doctor might not want to prescribe Zithromax for your Lyme or babesia, as there is a (rare) side effect of hearing loss with it.

Take care,

Shaz

Heres what I found on the internet about"hypnagogic hallucinations:

[edit] Hypnagogic sensations
Hypnagogic sensations are vivid dream-like experiences that occur as one is falling asleep or waking up. Accompanying sleep paralysis can cause the sensations to be more frightening. The features of these sensations generally vary by individual, but some are more common to the experience than others:

Most common

Vividness
Falling sensation
Fear
Common

Sensing a "presence" (often malevolent)
Pressure/weight on body (especially the chest or back).
A sensation of not being able to breathe
Sense of impending doom/death
Fairly common

Auditory sensations (often footsteps or indistinct voices, or pulsing noises). Auditory sensations which are described as noise instead of sensations of distinct or comprehensible sounds, are often described to be similar to auditory sensations caused by Nitrous Oxide by persons who have experienced both.
Visual sensations such as lights, people or shadows moving around the room
Less common

Floating sensations (often described as out-of-body experiences)
Seamless transition into fully immersive lucid dreaming, also associated with out-of-body experiences
Tactile sensations (such as a hand touching or grabbing)
Rare

Vibration
Involuntary movements (sometimes the feeling of sliding off the bed or even up walls).
The feeling of being pulled in different directions
During the hypnagogic state, an individual may appear

All I ever hear is this ringing, ringing noises. Worse at night when it is quite.

It sounds like bugs humming or sometimes just a loud ringing in my ears that never stops.

I have been having the wierd swooshing in my ears for a few weeks now........it is during the day and is intensified with noise or music.

Definately is in time to my heartbeat. It was nice to hear someone else having this problem so I can still believe I'm not crazy.

I am on Mepron/Zith. I see my LLMD next week and I will be sure to tell him about this symptom!

Margaret and Sherri: What you both describe sounds like what I have - I just coudn't come up with a good description because it's not a "normal" sound.

Super funny about hearing it in the bathroon!

Shaz, I was on Zithro for a while but it din't work for me (even though he gave me Amantadine like Dr. Burrascaon's Guides say) I'll tell my LLMD when I got there in a few weeks. What you described sounds super credible to what I may have and worth checking on, for sure.

Thanks, everyone for your responses.

We should all read the thread here about "Headaches - Be aware" this "ear thing" is a symptom of another condition, too.

My psych. wants to do an MRI on me for other reasons - I really want one for sure, now!

In that half sleep stage I sometimes get a "pots and pans clanging" sound or I wake to someone calling my name. I don't usually recognize the voice.

If I nap during the day I go into a lucid dreaming thing really easily. (Can't control them, darnit.)

Sometimes, I see my heartbeat, like I sit down after standing briefly and see dark spots pulsing, I'm not sure if I'm hearing it too, probably, but am so busy watching and have forgotten to listen. [Roll Eyes]
