About to try Ambien CR. Anybody try it & how'd you do? What dose did you take?

I take it, and it has been fabulous. It comes in 6.25mg or 12.5mg. I take 12.5mg tabs, but my insomnia is pretty awful. I don't have a "sleep" hangover in the morning, and occasionally even wake feeling refreshed! Occasionally.

No early morning wake-ups or waking up at 2, 3, and 4 o'clock anymore. I'm out and resting peacefully for 7-9 hrs. I love it. I've been on it since Nov. Regular Ambien just didn't stay with me long.
I started at smaller mg and didn't rest until I went to the 12.5 higher dose. Restful sleep makes a difference.

It's the only sleep med that works for me. I need to take 12.5 mg for it to work.

Not me on the 12.5 CR I would wake up every few
hrs, have nightmares and it would make me drag
all morning (hungover feeling). So I am back on
10 and sometimes I
take up to 20mg. I put it under my tongue or
chew it so it hits right away. Except of course
tonight since I am still up.

Yeah I don't think you're supposed to chew Ambien CR or any other meds like that.
I had better luck with Ambien than Ambien CR but they both did really not very much for me.

Ambien CR is manufactured in layers to help sleep cycles. If you are chewing it, the timed released effect is gone.

Hi All!
My daughter had some relief from ambien. I think she actually took 15 mg before getting relief. The dr could not prescribe this much at once and insurance would not cover the refils becuase it is not approved for this dose.
The ambien cr did nothing. One dr said she could chew it up to get the 12.5 mg all at once, but she hates to taste meds and wouldn't try it.
A pharmacist suggested she add advil pm to the ambien 10 mg and this helped some for awhile.
Wish we had known to try melatonin with the sleep meds. Later tried melatonin alone and it helped.
